Maybe, but natural grass field would be more forgiving and possibly would have created a divet to where his foot could have slide out and the impact wouldn't be as severe.

same as Mizzou, this time of the year the shadow from the west stands casts on to the field early.
To be clear we COULD grow the grass though, we are just TOO CHEAP to pay for the water and fertilizer...

It's a fair point to argue but the other side of the coin is that when your foot "divots" out like that you have a greater chance of tearing an ACL/ICL, right now the statistics kind of indicate its a toss up as to the number of injuries you will wind up with, regardless of the surface type.

Every stadium deals with this. Ole Miss isn't even that big. The new Kyle Field is gonna have hella shade issues but they'll make it work. Some relatively more shade tolerant bermudagrass is available now. LSU has Celebration which can handle shade better than older cultivars.

Treadwell wasn't hurt because of the turf, It might have made the injury worse but he got frosted. The jersey pull and jump on the leg is what hurt him not the field, same principal as when horse collars were hurting players. The actual pulling down by the collar didn't hurt them, it was jumping on the leg as pulling down. the frost jump was the problem.
