Recent success will take care of that for a while.

But what happens if Bama loses a game, and its on the cusp of being 5th and getting left out? There's a lot of people ready to shut them out (see the WSJ's article, pleading with AU to win the IB). Every year I hear how great the Pac-10 is, or sometimes its the Big 12's turn at PR. In a marginal situation, that the SEC is the best conference is helpful to combat those that desperately want the West coast to have a shot.

And, just as a last thought, I kept hearing Kirk Herb. say how terrible the Big 10 is -- and then this year he lobbies for them to go in to the NC. There's a lot of media that want to see the SEC go down -- Bama included.

Then it wouldn't really matter how strong the conference is, right?

I agree with you here. But if people are being honest with themselves and selecting the teams with integrity, it won't matter.

Its not really an upset if Auburn beats FSU. It only seems that way because it seems a lot Auburn fans are insecure as hell. My god if I see another Auburn validation thread i'm gonna go postal.

Exactly what I've been hearing. It's a read between the lines thing. If it were not for Ohio State losing, you couldn't have convinced most media types that Auburn/Missouri really deserved the shot more because they didn't want to see them in there anyway, and would want to argue against it in every way. Everybody has preconceived ideas on what looks like the best team, which basically renders all polls useless in determining a true champion, because it's not being played out on the field. I'd rather have a 10win3loss team as champion from a playoff, rather than a 13-0 champion that skated through a weak league and into a championship game against another of the same mold

Auburn beating FSU should not be considered an upset.

It would be nice to keep the crystal ball in State.

When Auburn wins, and when UK / UL wins this march it will be awesome to have the football state and the basketball state keep it in state!

I think Auburn can win too....... p p
Only thing that worries me is Auburn was peaking and you want to continue on with all that. The break might hurt this, and the break also gives FSU time to work on stopping the Wing-T offense Gus runs.....

No matter what.....
I think we'll get a compeditive Title game this time

Auburn can withstand a FSU run and will be ok if FSU takes a early lead.

If Auburn jumps up early FSU may fade away.

I've got about a dime on AU, mostly on the moneyline at plus 230.

Now I am seeing it at plus 250. I think I am gonna have to put more down now. Not sure if AU will win, but that is just a lot of value IMO. Don't want the points. It is all or nothing for me in this game. frick the spread.

Yeah, this is what worries me. AU has the time to prepare as well, but I think it benefits FSU a lot more because AU's offense is unique teams do not face an offense like it often. The extra time to prep and face it in practice (and FSU has the athletes to simulate it better than most) is gonna help. FSU's offense is a pretty standard O that a team sees and preps for all year a lot anyway.

Also, AU was peaking a few weeks ago. I would have felt great about winning right after the SECCG. The time off is just a huge wildcard. I see the game as a toss up, it is just I would be predicting an AU win if it had been played say, last weekend.

Extra time to prepare for a version of the Wing-T is a completely different animal than preparing for FSU's offense. Plus, I don't think that extra time is going help Auburn's secondry to much, but it could help Auburn's only defensive bright spot. Their DL getting time to heal up could be useful because they're going to need a great game to slow down FSU's offense enough. If Auburn can pressure the QB their odds increase a bunch in this game.
