Bryant won multiple national championships without winning his bowl game at all. Ask Arkansas fans how that works.

NCAA investigations were much worse back in the 70s.

Tennessee fans are so desperate for the attention of men these days, it’s sad really. Like a fanbase composed of Willy T’s.

I will call a spade a spade. Do I have to be a homer just to be accepted here?

Saying stupid shite doesn't mean you are objective, it just means you say stupid shite.

I mean hell, even in your original argument you seem to think it impossible for the 2 best teams to come from the same conference.

And then on top of that, you further seem to think the conferences are somehow involved in trying to find the best team in the conference for that purpose. Does anything about the way the SEC is setup indicate that is the purpose? Doesn't even take into account OOC, not to mention the AQ part with divisions.

Since you mentioned 2017, both Alabama and Georgia lost to Auburn that year. Alabama played Auburn closer, played a tougher schedule and was in all ways more qualified to play in the SECCG than Georgia. The only reason Georgia got to play Auburn in the SECCG was because Georgia was in the east.

And yet, no mention of their rematch chance for some reason. Why? Because you're a butthurt LSU fan pretending to be an Alabama fan.

In 2011, if conferences were actually designed towards finding the best team, it would have been Alabama vs LSU in the SECCG. Instead, once again LSU was feed an East team instead, even though it was clear Alabama was better.

So have a nice day butthurt LSU fan who doesn't have the balls to own up.

I have no allegiance to LSU. I only received an online masters from there.

It’s Saban by a large margin. There’s more parity in modern football than there was in Bear’s era.

NCAA investigations were much worse in the 80s...they were not much worse back in the 70s...and were virtually non-existent in the 60s, when Bryant won 3 National Championships and 4 SEC Championships.

Exactly...and everyone knows Bryant had a perfect record against Neyland head-to-head.

If it wasn't for Bear, Georgia Tech would still be in the SEC.

Tech left because of the 140 Rule. SEC schools — there were 12, Tulane included — were allowed 140 scholarships for football and men’s basketball; football programs were allowed to sign as many 45 recruits per season. Tech coach Bobby Dodd believed that other teams were overrecruiting, pushing aside underperforming players to clear scholarship space for newer ones. Said Bill Curry, who played under Dodd and would later coach at Tech: “That was an obsession with coach Dodd. I didn’t play very much my first two seasons. I was one of those he could have run off.”

Back in his day, you could lose your last game and still win a Natty

Which means those games were just exhibitions since they weren't playing for anything.

Another LSU melt, crying, bitching, wailing about 21-0…50 TD line wall, waaahhhhh, SEC, polls, refs, hate LSU, join b12, mutter mutter, Saban traitor, REC, NCAA hates LSU, it ain’t fair..waaaahhhhh.

Good god man… it’s been ten years since that beat down. It’s been 15+ years since Saban left Baton Rouge. It’s time you saw someone about PTSD. Get some help.

Oh…both coaches did something few others could do…totally revamped their offenses when what they were doing no longer worked. I recommend you revamp your angst.

NCAA investigations back in the day was just a mechanism for Blue Bloods that ran the NCAA to keep the upstarts in line. A&M got on probation after winning 3 straight SWC Championships in the '80s and then again in the '90s. Took them off TV and made them ineligible for the '94 Championship and bowls of course. I remember when we played ND twice in a row in the Cotton and we were getting hammered for kids not showing up to a Summer job. ND literally was busted paying players directly out of the AD's office. We got hammered, they got a hand slap. Same with Texas in the '80s when everyone else in the SWC was getting killed (SMU literally).

The NCAA was very much a good old boys club back then and the blue bloods controlled it. Hell the guy that started the NCAA infractions committee was a Texas Law Prof that was an unabashed sip homer (and a complete arse). They had no standards for investigation. They had no guidelines they followed for what type of penalties were handed out. It was all set up that just about anything could be a violation if they wanted and the hammer could drop but they could also give super light punishment for the same offense.

The most hilarious thing to me is when folks from blue blood programs act like they were pure and wonderful but it was all those evil cheaters at their rival schools that did the dastardly deeds. I know Bear cheated when he was at A&M and I also know that didn't suddenly stop when he went to Bama.

AlTiger, you may remember Coach Bryant’s struggles with alcohol, but his absolute ownership of Lsu’s Tigers is why fans like you hate him so much even decades later. He owned y’all. It still stings you enough that you can remember his human weaknesses this many years later.

Weak.

Bear still is the Goat...He never had a 5 star player. He didn't need them he coached kids into men. Name any coach today who could take a group of average players and win a NC. Now name one that could do it 6 times. Bear out coached his competition.
