I now agree that the national title game should have been last Monday night.

Initially, I believed that the extra week would be good for the teams, and maybe it has been. However, I have to keep reminding myself that the college football national championship is tonight because we are now pretty far removed from any other college football game (at least any big ones). It would probably feel more like game day if I had a dog in the fight, but still, it just seems weird.

In short, two weeks is too long from the fans perspective. Particularly from the perspective of a fan who doesn't have a team in the game.

I'd love for it to be on Saturday night, Friday night or even Thursday night. Saturday night will never happen, though, because of the NFL Playoffs.

Agree. If they aren't going to play the game on Saturday as it should be, they need to tighten up the schedule. Why not move the semifinals up if there has to be a long wait and play the title game Jan 1st

I like the Monday part, just wish I were last Monday. It's prime television and exposure impact. The 2 week delay is just bullshite. No one wants to talk about 2 college teams for that long so they essentially are under tue rug that 1st week anyway. Even the 2 week Super Bowl wait is too much.

To me it seems that college football is making the same mistake major league baseball did. The world series should be in early October and the college national championship game should be on New year's day. Instead they are playing baseball into November now and going into middle January with college football. It just doesn't seem right

Because we had some injuries, I’m glad we got the extra time to heal up.

It seems like it would be really difficult to keep neutral observers interested this long.

Yeah, and in that regard I guess it's good for the teams. That's how I looked at it initially. For someone who does not have a team in the game, I feel somewhat less interested (or at least less focused on the game) when it is so long after all of the bowl games.

Either last Monday which would have been 9 days of rest or this past Friday night would have worked.

I have lost a lot of interest in this game because of the gap. Definitely will watch, but just not that excited for it. Shame.

Dog or no dog in the hunt, it's too damned long to wait.

It's already a pain to say that the winner of the 2020 National Championship Game is the 2019 National Champion.

I swear they won't be happy until there's a 2 month gap from the conference championships and semifinals and then another months before the championship game.

We'll be able to roll straight from the NCG into March Madness! Yay! (/sarcasm)

Could of been any day last week except maybe Friday (nobody's home), Sat and Sun (NFL).

This annoys me as well, game tonight is for the 2019 national championship. The 2020 logos and icons don't make sense.

They would've never had it compete with NFL playoff games, but man Saturday or Sunday would've been nice

As I have said before, they should have the semifinals New Year's Eve and then the championship game one week later. If it falls on a Saturday or Sunday and conflicts with the NFL then bump it to Monday.
