I don't think you are in danger of that any time soon.

Maybe we can trade A&M for Baylor and get a real Texas school. At least Baylor does not have a group of all male cheerleaders prancing around the field like a bunch of fairies.
Welcome Baylor
Good Bye Texas A&M

It's not a company line.
But call it whatever you want.
We've heard it all.
We are who we are, and we're not interested in changing--particularly not for Bodean down in New Albany, MS who happens to have a problem with our history.

Was this ever not the company line? "Weird" might be a term we wouldn't throw around. But "Different" is very accurate. We do things differently than just about every other school and I don't know 1 Aggie alive that isn't proud of where he/she went to school. Yeah its pretty cult like, deal with it.

People who say "grrrr" on the internet typically have problems fitting in

I'm trying to keep an open mind about all of it so will some of you Aggies explain the whole Yell Leader stuff? The dances, the hand motions, etc. Is is some sort of military stuff? When did it all begin? What is it's significance in A&M's history? Educate me please.

I think it started as a form of hazing where they made a few freshmen dress up in white overalls and tell jokes and create chants. I dunno how it evolved. That might not be the exact background but it's something like that

So a hazing ritual stuck and became a major part of your universities make up? That's pretty weird and interesting at the same time.

Correct, but it started as a way for seniors to provide entertainment for their dates from TWU (back before we all embraced the gay).
When they noticed that the women were paying more attention to the freshmen than to them, they pulled the freshmen aside and wore the uniforms themselves.
At least that's my recollection.

HISTORY OF YELL LEADERS
When A&M was an all-male military college in 1907, students often invited ladies from Texas Women’s University to take the train to College Station to attend Aggie football games. Then as now, a certain amount of tickets were set aside for guests, and these would be handed out based on seniority, so freshmen were rarely able to bring guests to the games.
According to legend, during one football game the Aggies were being out-scored so badly that the ladies were threatening to leave the game from boredom. Therefore, the upperclassmen ordered the freshmen, or “fish,” to find a way to entertain the bored ladies. The freshmen raided a janitor’s closet and changed into the white coveralls they found there, and began leading the crowd in yells from the track in front of the stands. The freshmen got so much attention from the ladies that it was decided that only upperclassmen would be allowed to participate in this entertainment in the future.
