I don't think they quit. I honestly believe that Arkansas was the better team this year. LSU's faults were masked very well leading into Bama. Saban saw the flaws and worked LSU silly. Bert used the same blueprint and Freeze and Sumlin will do the same. Les has seemed to have lost his fire and drive these last few years. 1/9 broke Les for good. The only saving grace is the recruiting, but unless the kids are great coming in, they don't get developed.

Finally a LSU fan who gets it.

Arkansas matched up very well with LSU and was just better. I don't think Ole Miss and A&M can say the same, though.

Les has been a great coach, but he is looking tired.

Not putting my Hogs down at all. We are a damn salty football team right now. If you believe LSU didn't come out with the "ah frick this shite BAMA blues" then you didn't watch any LSU football before the BAMA game. It's like BAMA castrated them.

If LSU did come out flat, then what does that say about LSU? They had a bye week before Alabama and both of us were on the road against a formidable opponent last week. Everyone but Ole Miss has lost to Alabama, so that's not a good excuse.

And I do think you're underrating Arkansas some. We played Alabama just as closely as LSU did.

A little off topic, but LSU and Arkansas are actually my two favorite SEC teams outside of Tennessee. I have lots of family from Arkansas and I myself was born there, although I can't remember living there. Lots of family supports the Hogs and I enjoy seeing them do well. I don't exactly have a connection to LSU, but for some reason I've always been pretty cool with em. Absolutely electric campus environment, UT has had some very good games with them (Arky as well for that matter), shared dislike for UF and Bama, and hella fine women. Glad the hogs are doing nicely, and LSU (well....) at least they've been good for most of the year.

Love my Tigers but our football program has accomplished most of what we have with recruiting and not coaching the whole time Les has been here. He has had some great moments and some head scratching ones. This program will never recover from the defeat against Bama in the NCG as long as Les is here. To use a Saban quote--"It's time to move on."

I somewhat agree with that, but great recruiting isn't enough by itself. Saban is a great example, because other coaches recruit great, but don't win like he does.

I'll never understand why LSU can't recover from 1/9. I'm sure it was extremely disappointing and frustrating, but no fans have experienced more of those things then Arkansas fans. Then again, maybe that's why we've struggled for so long now?

This. Nothing against Les, but I don't think he would've won the one NC he did without Saban being there first. Of course if Saban hadn't been at Bama, Les would have at least one more. He's a NC coach, but it's been obvious that he's done it with superior talent, not superior coaching. It is what it is. That's not against him. Petrino is a great mind, but shite recruiter. He'll never win one. Les has. But I think it's time for him to move on. I'm hoping he don't for our sake, but it's more evident than ever that he's holding LSU back. Who would I replace him with? Dunno, but he'll win out and go 9-10 and 2-3 but the year will still be a failure.
