Not the same thing. I didn't know anyone who disliked Tebow's personal behavior or demeanor, or his unrivaled work ethic and leadership on his team.

But I hated the media acting like there was one player in CFB for about two years straight. Once everyone started shitting on him because he wasn't doing well in the pros, I actually started defending him (not his performance, though).

Lol no

Laettner was on the very first Dream team ever. He was picked over Shaq and Alonzo Morning (both will be in the hall of fame). Every player on the first Dream Team is in the NBA hall of fame except for Laettner. Laettner was selected to the All Stars one time in 13 years. Not going to research it but how many average NBA players have one or more All Star appearances and not considered very good. A lot of them.

Compared to the hype Laettner did have a disappointing NBA career.

In four games against the LSU Tigers, Tim Tebow scored 10 TDs, which is more than both of LSU's quarterbacks amassed in 2014

I don't think anybody really hates Tebow, we all just find him incredibly annoying.

College football fans have never hated tebow like college basketball fans hated laettner. Everybody except duke fans despised laettner.

So much wrong with this post, but Laettner played 13 years in the NBA. No he didn't have a hall of fame career, but anyone who plays professional ball this many years is not a disappointment.

Inevitably the Tebow documentary will be a subject of debate on First Take, and I have a hard time seeing ESPN going to one of them and telling them to insinuate whatever controversial stance they can glean from Tebow and his religious following.

Good point!

I didn't think of the reverb effect.

I think you under estimate the Hate for Tim Tebow nationally.

I lived in Austin during Tebow's last year at UF. Everybody there hated him. The newspaper always took shots and low blows at him. After Bama beat UF in the SEC championship a co worker printed a huge picture of Tebow crying and put it on the wall. The Texas fans loved it and kept it up for months. I just didn't get why they hated him so much.

Ok, I get this. Laettner never lived up to the hype but had a long professional career.

Tebow was a bust.

Clearly, there is a big difference between the two.

Fixed it in the OP

Why was Manziel so hated. I get why teasips and Sooners hated him but everyone else? It doesn't make sense.

That's really not how it went down. He was very vocal about his faith and that might have been an issue but the bigger issue was his self promotion, choosing to jump into the middle of the abortion issue, and wild popularity in the NFL that greatly exceeded his ability as a pro.

The documentary would be better if it was: "I love Tim Tebow"

He's a douche

A trust fund douche with no sense of how lucky he's been and a desire to put himself and his partying ahead of his team's larger interests. I think that's been quite obvious with the "I'll do what i want" and "I don't have to change" statements from him as he headed to Cleveland

This is based solely on Tebow's faith.

First off you left out the other issues relating to his behavior and popularity. Secondly it was based on his interpretation of his faith. but you can expect in 99 or 100 times out of 100 any person who expresses an opinion that is pro life or pro choice will be an object of different feelings and substantial attention that is not related to their profession.

IMO proclaiming yourself to be pro life doesn't make you a religious person any more than proclaiming yourself to be pro choice makes you pro women. It is an opinion on one of the most contentious and emotionally debated issues in our society. Jumping into it as a celebrity or sports figure is something you ought to do with great caution because it isn't what you are famous for and it will antagonize people who disagree. The old Jordan quote about Republicans buy shoes too comes to mind.

"heat"? No..it was a big talking point for some reason, but his faith isn't why he was hated.

Tim Tebow is hated on by so many quite simply because of the media. They shoved him down our throats nonstop, all day, everyday, 24/7 for 3 years. Then kept doing it in the NFL. There are PLENTY of football players eveyr year that are really, really good and are also Christians. But they are forcefed to us morning noon and night like tebow was.
