went to knoxville for the game this past weekend and found oklahoma fans to be quite the opposite of trashy. they were actually one of the nicer fan bases i've come across

I agree that they weren't bad even after that comeback win. Not a whole lot of shite talk when they easily could have.

i'm sure i could drive through backwater texas and find plenty of a&m fans doing redneck things too. however, i don't generally judge a fanbase based on the crowd that frequents the dollar general store

Even if it's their fans that are frequenting the dollar general store?

In all fairness, since 2008, Oklahoma has been hot garbage. When Bradford left, Oklahoma just kind of sucked outside the Sugar Bowl the other year.

oh is this where we start the argument of what team's rednecks are more redneck than the other. those are always fun. i've been to several games in which oklahoma was playing. their fans are fine dude.

retty sure the defense had a lot to do with it moreso than coaching.

Defense was just on the field too long without any help from the O. They got tired at the end. they played well enough for us to win the game. The conservative play-calling on offense after the first quarter screwed up everything

Our defense was on the field the entire game with any help from the offense until 10:00 minutes left in the game.

I didn't see any conservative playcalling. Your offense is built around the strengths of your skill players and what they do well.
Hurd excels with the outside zone runs over the left side of your line. Dobbs excels at pulling the ball and going up the middle when the LBs bite on the Hurd fake over the left side and pursue. Dobbs is good at short passes but can't stretch the field. He succumbs to pressure in his face easily. Pig Howard is Mr Jet Sweep and little else. Once we took away those bread n butter plays, the entire scheme was rendered ineffective. Even your players in your press conference said we disrupted your entire scheme and they couldn't overcome it.

Wait so being the only team to win all BCS bowls during the BCS era is somehow garbage? OU has the most wins of any program since WW2...What an idiot.

Surely that can't be attributed to coaches making adjustments, could it? Look, your defense made adjustments and y'all did what you had to do to win the game. However, this game should have been over in the 3rd.

Somehow, we couldn't figure out how to run plays that counter delayed/corner blitzes. The playcalling did get conservative as the O tightened up and depended on the D that played well all game. I don't remember the exact sequences, but the last few series of offensive calls were atrocious. Congrats on the win, but we fricked ourselves.

We scored 17 points in the first quarter and then proceeded to gain something like 75 yards in the entire second half, with 60 of those coming on the first 2 plays. The D was playing well, but didn't get any help from the offense after the first quarter

We can agree to disagree and that's fine. I don't know what adjustments I'd make as an OC when that would require asking my players to move away from their strengths and what they've had success with to something else entirely. UT didn't panic and stuck with their gameplan by playing to their strengths and what they had been successful doing. They had little reason not too until the last 10 minutes.

Fair enough. I don't want to sound like sour grapes, your guys did what it took to win the game and that's what is important.

I just know that this can't be the only offense in the world that doesn't have play calls that counter blitzes. Your DC begged us to throw, and we didn't or ran some slow developing play that ended up with Dobbs running for his life. Like I said, your D made adjustments.

I've got to give Stoops credit.

He followed the 2014 Missouri blueprint to a T.

I remember they did try to run a RB screen to Kamara to counter the blitzes. It got blown up by Striker and nearly got Dobbs killed in the process. An argument could me made for going back to it later but there wasn't that much time left in the game at that point. They tried to throw the ball down the field in 2OT and that resulted in an INT ended the game. Regardless, best game of the year so far.
