Tennessee fans haven't been talking that much shite, Texas A&M fans are quiet, There's little to no insight on Bama so far... there's something in the air and I don't like it.

What is going to happen this season has been coming for a couple of seasons. Actually, and I am fairly sure I've been reading the tea leaves properly ... but I think this season we are going to see the East vastly improving, but the West may actually be better top-to-bottom as well.

We should see the conference, overall, do very well against outside competition this year.

There will be a couple of surprises as well.

It's do or die for Lyle. Man oh man if UT finishes fourth in the East ... Tennessee fans will downvote the piss outta this but it wouldn't shock me to see Butch underachieve again this year although ... that UT vs UF game is going to tell us a lot about both of those programs and head coaches this year.

Stoops might surprise some of us with his Kentucky team this year.

Don't be surprised to see a kink in Saban's armor this year ... it's the natural order of things. Happens to everyone eventually. He may, who knows, but he may be questioning his own mojo. This is a critical year for Bama and Saban's relationship.

Ed O is a better manager and motivator than he's being given credit for ... we'll find out how good his staff is this year. LSU is the dark horse to win it all this year.

Kirby is an enigma but I wouldn't be surprised to see him do well at UGA.

Say what you will about mUSChamp ... I've been around him some now over the past year - he's driven. He's compiled a fairly good staff, young but competitive. Good eye for talent.

Why anyone would ever overlook Mullen and MSU, as long as he is there, is beyond me. They may not win it all but they can beat anybody on any given Saturday.

Arkansas is going to be a tough out this year. They've got all the pieces in place. Bert is on the hotseat though - going to be interesting to see how he performs under the pressure. Arkansas will pull a major upset this season.

Florida is a real question mark. Hard to figure Florida.

Vandy is Vandy.

Ole Miss ... God Bless'em.

A&M and Sumlin ... seriously, with the talent this guy has had if he fails to finish in the top 3 of the West this year then A&M should can him. And he won't. He'll pull of a marginal upset but lose two or three he is not supposed to lose ... nothing against A&M. If they ever get the right coach they - are a sleeping giant.

Hard to put a finger on Mizzou and Odom. I just don't follow them closely enough to know what is going-on with them.

I'm predicting LSU vs UGA in Atlanta this year .... no one comes in unscathed.

If that happens then Bert is gonna be in trouble.

I just don't see it happening this year though. He's got all the pieces in place. He's coaching for his job this year though and there is a lot of pressure behind that.

Yeah, Saban better do well this year, or we will run his arse off this year. He really needs to prove himself.

Where do these idiotic statements come from.

Sheeeesh you Bammers can be so insecure at times.

Saban's not on the hotseat - I didn't imply that in the least. But Saban is no longer invincible - no one is afraid of Bama anymore. How he handles that is going to be interesting. Wouldn't surprise me to see Bama lose a few this year and it'll be interesting to see how Saban, his players and you fans handle it.

I distinctively remember when Bama turned on The Bear. Saban will never let it go that far - he'll leave first and walk away. The only thing he is trying to do at this point, IMHO, is cement his legacy. Maybe try to pass Spurrier's SEC win total and maybe try to get one more National Championship under his belt if possible.

Saban is a competitive man but eventually it happens to all of us where it's time to kick back and enjoy the fruits of our labor. Saban is fast getting to that age. He's not the kind of guy that is going to try to push it to 70. He's got a life away from football he is gonna wanna live and that's what I'm trying to convey.

What I do think he wants to do is do all he can, see if he can last a couple two or three more years and then leave Bama in a really good place for his successor.

No you don't, because it didn't happen. I was there throughout. The only time "Alabama turned on the bear" was some questioning in the late 1960s... and Coach Bryant went on his TV show and told everyone to shut up... and they did.
