I did not realize the hatred Ole Miss and LSU have for each other

My practice had its Christmas party last night at a brewery. A TV was showing the Heisman ceremony in the background, and when the winner was announced, almost everyone watching cheered (including multiple Alabama grads), except for a good buddy of mine who is an Ole Miss grad. I asked him about it, and he said he just can’t cheer for LSU in anything and also said that Ole Miss adds a phrase (he didn’t tell me what it is) to the national anthem that derides LSU.

I think rivalries like this are part of what makes college football great and I hope all of the recent changes don’t diminish them.

Ole Miss is very much the jealous little brother of LSU athletics. I think the hatred is more one way.

Curious if he is older or young. At LSU the pre 1990 fans have that Ole Miss hatred burned in them. Since 2000 the strong hate has shifted to Alabama with medium hate for ole Miss…

It's more of a baby boomer generation thing. My dad hated Ole Miss more than anything. I couldn't care less about them.

I’d rather stick to the original topic, but Alabama does hold the all time series lead over LSU in football, basketball, and baseball.

Not much hatred for Ole Miss, I guess most of the hatred comes from them?

Ole Miss and LSU go back to the 50s. LSU has moved on - Ole Miss, nope, cause they hadn't done diddly since

Yeah let’s put Alabama’s all time men’s basketball team on the court with ours and see what happens.

When we have played LSU in each of those sports we have won more than we’ve lost. That matters more to most fans than mythical all time teams.

Older LSU fans hate Ole Miss still, younger fans don’t see it as much more than a conference rival that their parents may not like.

Ole Miss fans seem to really hate LSU and talk up the rivalry. It’s like the dynamic between LSU and A&M but more established

All that matters are championships in LSU Bama world. Bama has more, but LSU has the more recent one in both football and baseball, and the few Bama fans who didn’t just jump on board in 2009 know how quickly those totals can change.

LSU fans will say they don’t hate us and don’t really care about us. But they’ve rushed the field 2 times in the last decade after beating us

It was also the LSU ASB that reached out to Ole Miss about the idea of naming the rivalry and giving it a trophy

Honestly, does trolling ever get old? Do you sometimes ask yourself what you are doing with your life?
