I love Alabama football, but I am tired of seeing one of our fans make an arse of himself or herself every week. And most of the rest of us, who aren't criminally insane and make national news, still suffer from entitlement and arrogance. I'm tired of defending it or hoping it will go away. They even have a national show with Paul Finebaum that is basically Jerry Springer with a sports theme,
When it comes to Bama fans, we still have some incredible people and an unequalled tradition. Of course this insanity doesn't represent most of us, but it represents too many of us.
Unfortunately, you don't get to associate yourself with the program but disassociate with the other Bama fans. It doesn't work that way...if it did, I'd do the same thing with Jesus.
We have (by far) the worst sidewalk fans in the country.

I've had bad run ins almost everywhere I have been for football games, but I don't associate every fan I meet with those fans.
I've had miserable experiences with LSU fans in Tuscaloosa, but I had the most hospitable time from LSU fans when I went down to BR two years ago. A completely random tailgate took us in. They gave us all the food and booze we could take.
I don't define myself by Alabama sports, and I don't define others by their teams. One of my best friends is an Auburn fan, and another is a Tennessee fan. That means nothing to me. They are my friends because of the people they are, not the teams they cheer for.

So 3 times in the last 4 years = every week?
Drama queen much?

Sounds like you need some new friends.

Most of us aren't that ridiculous. I can be a homer just like anyone else. I just think it's time to acknowledge that it has become a problem. Our program is known for two things - a remarkable level of recent success, and idiotic reactions to a loss. When we drop a game, we sit back and brace ourselves for the inevitable story the next day of a shooting, tree poisoning, or whatever.
Here's the heart of the point: if Alabama loses to our first major opponent next year, and the following day we hear about someone driving a truck over Saban's statue, who can honestly say they would be shocked?

Pathetic. Just because Raider/Eagle fans are shittier, that doesn't absolve or excuse your fanbase of anything.

don't forget idiotic reactions to a win either.

You should see what the national perception of your fans are due to those three incidents. Again - I know most fans are level-headed, but it only takes a few to alter perception

Very well said. Most of us are this way. But this is the rant. All Bama fans are teabagging, body surfing, tree poisoning Updykes here. Always will be.

All places have their share, but a lot of bad apples in Bama for sure. At least you see it, I remember how some Bama fans here either celebrated or defended the tea bagger.

I'm pretty sure he didn't tea bag and record himself tea bagging at the same time.

I don't even know what happened.

The bandwagon has gotten out of control. Losers like to cling on to winning teams. Back in the 90s, you saw really rough looking people wearing Tennessee colors, and the Bama people you encountered were generally pretty clean-cut. Now it's just the opposite. These fans are insufferable. They embarrass the university, the team, and the genuine fans. And every winning program in every sport has them.
But would you rather be irrelevant?

a lot of your fanbase outside of alabama have only recently become fans due to the success since 2008. i work with some and they take it way too serious.

It wasn't like this in the agony of the Dubose years. Unfortunately, winning brings the crazies out of hiding.
I agree. I actually feel sorry for the decent Bama fans and there many.
