Could it be argued that Ole Miss' rampant cheating cost Mississippi State a playoff bid in 2014? If State would have won that game, they would have been 11-1, only loss being a 25-20 road loss at Bama. They were No. 4 heading into the Egg Bowl.

So tell me how you are getting in above OSU, Ore and FSU? MSU would have been left out

OSU would have had to jump us. Not saying they wouldn't have, but we were ahead of them going into the last weekend.

Then you miss a game, not playing in a championship

not a chance. taking Ohio St as the fourth team was very easy for the committee. It would have been interesting to see Miss St's placement with BU/TCU but I suspect they would have been below them also. Miss St's nonconference schedule was embarrassing.

2016 Ohio St was the first nonchamp to get in, and they had one fewer losses than all the alternatives. And they are Ohio St. name will always matter.

I doubt a team that didn't win their conference would've made the CFP in its first year.

If they had won the egg bowl that year by a large margin, they could have been in it. Their only loss would have been a close one to Bama. They could of easily had a case to be included.
