Well, didn't yall have an assistant "lending" money to players a couple of years ago? Or what about the Yahoo report that named a former player as a runner for an agent? They had Western Union receipts and everything. And the NCAA did nothing.

The SEC isn't set up for a scenario like this to occur. We're all socialistic and egalitarian in the way the conference operates. Even the keeping of cross-divisional rivalries intact and the current number of conference games played is done through popular consensus of conference schools. Much to the chagrin of the conspiracy theorists there's no single school running the show nor does the conference revolve around Bama the way the B12 does Texas.

Nah. If anything people here give Bama and the REC wayyyy too much credit. They don't run the conference so much as buy players, law enforcement/DAs and refs - totally different things.

Have you paid any attention to our offseason? If we are paying law enforcement, then I want a refund because clearly the money isn't being spent well

You're an LSU, Auburn, or UT alter. No Florida fan would have Bama on their mind that much all the time.

Like almost everybody getting bye weeks before playing Bama?

Actually, that's probably not a very good example for this thread as it only kind of "proves" his point--that practice of everybody having byes was banned after Bama requested it be.

More likely is Auburn and a Mississippi School go to the ACC. All about TV, no sense having two teams in the same state. GT and Clemson are normal rivals, we could play a non-conference game against Bama. Same for Ole Miss-MSU.

SEC picks up a North Carolina School (State) and a Virginia School (Tech). They also play their instate rival as a non-conference game.

As NCAA monetizes playoff, if they find a way to reconfigure "leagues" that makes them more $$$$, they will do it. They could divide into 8 eight team leagues pulling from different conferences.

No they can't. The NCAA doesn't have that kind of power.

Hypothetically speaking if the SEC suddenly blew up tomorrow I could see Mizzou, LSU, Texas A&M, and Arkansas poaching some teams from the Big 12 and creating a new SWC.

By way of what Texas did in screwing up the Big 12, Alabama could do the same to the SEC with all of their preferential treatment.

You realize you have the votes to kick Bama out of the SEC and you have the votes to literally change the entire SEC staff so the question remains why none of those things happen, you know with all the Bama preferential treatment Bama receives.

Their power is limited?

They can charge, convict and execute without due process. I don't see limits on their power. Secret witnesses, no day in court, no equality in punishments for similar offenses, etc.

They have to be fought at every juncture. Luckily UGA and Oklahoma destroyed their TV monopoly. I'm for doing away with the NCAA as far as regulating intercollegiate athletics. The leagues can decide what rules their members must abide by.
