I actually didn't know y'all were recruiting him. I seem to remember that it was between us and Florida.

Besides that, Crete-Monee is an ND feeder. It'd be like if a kid from Jackson chose somewhere besides OM or MSU.

Of course we were. For the longest time it was an OM- Vandy race with y'all also sort of in it. Then come close to NSD, mommy suddenly becomes involved. Power move on ND part, which is commonly used down here. Guess what, someone got her involved, which is fine! We understand it happens. We don't deny it! You win some and lose some, but don't deny that it's a major factor. Bag men and influences like them are at every single school.

Other than the probation ND received in 1999 / 2000 for a Booster giving gifts to players right?

A $25 gift to a lunch club and taking a kid on dates that she ended up marrying (and is still married to) is a "booster giving gifts to players"?

Kid was wearing OM stuff to his official to Vandy

What changed I wonder? Certainly him telling our coaches he was coming forever before suddenly he's all ND is completely legit. That mystique must've made him come to his senses.

Yea, sorry, man - we have a completely different read on this. He grew up and lives 90 minutes from campus. He went to a big ND feeder. He is going to a nationally prominent program that has had 14 players drafted in the last two drafts? Color me shocked. We thought he was ours from day 1.

I thought y'all didn't recruit well?
He was interested in us because of his HS teammates that were on our roster.

Yes, according to the NCAA. Right or wrong, a booster gave money to players.

True story here. The Baptist church I grew up going to hired a progressive music director who bought televisions and projectors with hymn lyrics on them along with other very useful things for a large congregation. However, someone wrote an anonymous letter to him and said he was the reason the church was losing members and was in debt. The preacher read it after his sermon one Sunday and pretty much called out the person who said it saying they were uneducated and should perhaps find another church if they feel so uncomfortable there.

Then you didn't follow his recruitment very closely. He and another kid who went to A&M were the missing pieces to our class. Hell we were more worried about Vandy like drew said than ND. Then boom we take a backup plan and are completely out of it.

You finished one game better than we did last year. Really prominent if you ask me. I'm sure that one game difference was the deciding factor and not some booster buying mama a new caddy.

Our recruiting is mediocre. We don't recruit as well as most of us would like. We've been able to put together #1 or #2 rated classes, even in the recent past (2013 and 20009), but it hasn't been consistent. There was a time in the not too distant past when we had Jerome Bettis, Raghib Ismail, Reggie Brooks, Ricky Watters, Dorsey Levens, and Tony Brooks in the same backfield.

I would assert that most of us attribute it to Kelly's offense, but who really knows. We lost Barnett to Alabama recently, and I (legitimately) think it had nothing to do with shady dealings. Kelly just sucks arse at closing the deal and getting elite players to sign.

Ok, I'm fine if you want to live in a bubble and think that this stuff doesn't go on, but I am just telling you it does. Are there cases where it doesn't or doesn't have to? Sure, but don't think that every school, big or small, doesn't play that game. If you don't, you will be completely left behind. Later

You say potato, I say potato. We thought he was ours from day 1, and most of our analysts never wavered.

Your analysts either had him CB'd to Vandy or OM in September of last year. Why'd they CB elsewhere if they were so confident?

Maybe because we are still considered one of the premier programs in the sport? We're on national television every single week? You get a superior education (and actually graduate) that will net you many, many more dollars over your life than having gone to most other powerhouse programs? Maybe some kids can think beyond the end of their own penis?

And it was always pretty well known here that Tony Driver (Louisville) got a little "extra" to suit up for Notre Dame. Likely through Paul Hornung himself.

So, yeah. They're cheating their asses off in South Bend as much as anyone else in college football.
