Why is Rick Scott and people freaking out about hurricane Matthew if it's only hitting along the coast? It's not like it's directly hitting Florida

Yea, why would the Governor of Florida freak out about something hitting a coast? It's not like every place in Florida is within 50 miles of a ocean or anything.

Prepare for the worst?

Hitting just the coast as you say can and will still impact thousands of people. The government has to get things rolling for evacuations and having emergency personnel ready.

Remember also weather can change in a few minutes.

I kinda miss the old mud games from rain, I do not endorse hurricanes though.

How are you a Florida fan and know this little about hurricanes? Have you not gotten to that section in your 7th grade life science class?

That must be next semester huh?

I just hope the game is not cancelled. Missing a game will really hurt LSU's playoff hopes.

Hurricanes have actually been rare to Florida for over 10 years

Indeed.

In my experience, I find that it's best to just ignore any category 4 hurricane approaching any where near the United States.

I mean, what's the worst that could happen, right?

You also probably think those little cones indicate the extent of winds.

There is a large chance that this will affect the UGA vs USC game. There are a couple of models that now have it affecting Gainsville (ECMWF, NAVGEM, and UKMI). Be very careful traveling to the games, especially in the Carolinas.
