Apparently according to Newman's father he doesn't "trust" Howland. Is there some shenanigans going on up in Starkvills that the NCAA should know about??

So the kid was going to the draft and is now going to transfer? Doesn't that mean he would not be able to play until the following season? What would he gain? Ben Howland must not be paying him enough.

What a bitch. Typical of this sorry arse generation of high school basketball players. "I was supposed to be a one and done because Rivals said so and now I'm gonna transfer because my coach did not make me a lottery pick after one season." How on earth is sitting out a year going to make you a lottery pick rather than playing your sophomore year for a coach who has developed multiple lottery picks?

Newman's dad has delusions of him being a PG, because he's short (6'3) it's tough to be looked at as a viable high pick as a 2 at that size. He wants Malik to go somewhere to play PG. Howland let him play it a little but he just wasn't very good at it, good for Howland sticking his ground. They have better PGs. Newman needs to realize what he is and there's still lots of money to be made for a sharpshooting 2 who just doesnt have elite size as well as the ability to put the ball on the ground and drive to the hoop.

I guess Howland deserves this as well when he makes quotes like this:

quote:

“(Newman) is a one-and-done player,” Howland said. “We’ve said that every press conference I’ve had. Nothing’s changed. I fully expect him to enter the draft this June. That was the mindset when we recruited him and that’s still the mindset.”

Pretty much.
6'3" is plenty tall enough to play the 2 if you are good enough. Sounds to me like this kid has been spoiled his entire life. Dad is going to fu(k up this kid's career.

This kid melted so hard about Malik Newman when he was a recruit.

Almost nailed it bro.

No, Malik is just an entitled little bitch that feels everything should revolve around him. Howland is trying to build a cohesive team and Malik is only thinking about Malik.

Howland was tight with the money. 11 points a game gets you only $1100. He got $2500 against Ole Miss, plus a bonus trip to The Pony.

You're right. Howland needs to get on Freezedick's level
