From 247Sports.........

Georgia seems to top every college football list, so why not extend the program's dominance to behind the scenes?

During January's All-American Bowl, 247Sports asked 94 recruits to identify the school with the best athletic facility. Fifteen selected Georgia's recently revamped complex.

"May 2022 marked the completion of Georgia's $80 million upgrade, which included 136,300 square feet of new space including a locker room, a player’s lounge, a plunge pool, a nutrition bar, a barbershop, a sensory deprivation tank, and a weight room with a double-sided video board," Brad Crawford wrote.

Oregon received 12 votes, 11 recruits picked Alabama, and eight chose Clemson. LSU (six) and Tennessee (five) also represented the SEC well, while Big Ten rivals Ohio State and Michigan were among six schools to garner four votes.

Georgia has spent $175 million on its facilities since hiring Kirby Smart in 2015. The lofty investment appears to be helping the Bulldogs attract recruits and get peak production from those players.

How many of the players polled went to all of the campuses in the top 10?

Have Bama fans transition back to football yet? Another tough year on the horizon for them.

Even Kirby knows this is BS. Only SEC school without dual practice fields.

Are you suggesting we only have one field to practice on (not counting stadium)?

“Are you suggesting we only have one field to practice on”

Dual vs multiple. You might have multiple fields in disparate locations. But to have dual fields to allow the full team to practice in one location is a different matter. This is the driving force in the practice facility concept.

Still, Smart has made it clear that Georgia football is still not up to par with other SEC schools when it comes to field space, which makes for less efficiency at practice. There are indications that football will one day take over the current track area, which could benefit from an overhaul and new stadium facility. “There are a lot of things we continue to talk about,” Smart said on his coaches show last season. “One of the toughest is field space — we’re not able to operate on side-by-side fields. Right now, we’re the only team in the SEC that has that (situation).”

We have two outdoor fields, they’re just end to end (not side by side)

It clearly doesn’t ultimately matter (recent results and all) but Kirby is angling to either 1. Get the outdoor track moved so he has room to expand or 2. Get the HoKe Smith Annex demoed for the same reason. Track wants a new facility but local politics have been holding it up (I.e. the rich blue hairs in nearby 5 points who like to use the track to walk and jog) and the Hoke Smith Annex was almost on the chopping block as a possible site when we built the IPF

Side by side fields would be nice but it’s just a smokescreen for what Kirby really wants which are options to add on in the future

Hence no dual full side practice fields.

Kirby would disagree.

I refuse to believe this didn't make the Top 5.

Lol. Ok, yep...you got us. We should be ashamed. Instead of simply winning back to back national titles and 29 of our last 30 games, just think what we could do if we had another field adjacent to the other instead of up top of. Can't believe we've let this embarrassment go on for so long.

If Kirby says he wants something publicly, you can bet he’s really after something way bigger privately.

Kirby wants space which is at a premium on campus. I’d imagine he has an ally in the Track coach who wants a legit indoor/outdoor facility off South Milledge; it’s been something he’s been pushing for damn near since he arrived in 2016 and he’s amassed enough clout to be able to push for it, rich people be damned.

What’s it like to not be able believe your coach when attempting to fundraise. Or maybe, and far more likely UGA was just cheap when laying out it’s facilities because the money folks didn’t understand the value or dual practice fields (like the indoor football centric practice facility) but did know everyone else had 2 fields.

By “you” you mean your head football coach that’s had to drag y’all into modern practice facilities kicking and screaming.

A number of reason.
1. 2 bad coordinator hires
2. No talent at Qb or WR
3. Program doesn’t have an identity

Remember Bama last year was one of the most favored preseason National Championships in history and had a bad year.
