potentially. Like AAU, all it takes is for some ex-player or ex-coach to round up enough kids and start a team. It snowballs from there.

It already happens there and at the elite camps.

Lots of folks sweating bullets right now.

Probably false, at least not on the scale. Football may be a bigger sport, but for the shoe industry, basketball is king, and that's where thever money is. You'd never see a shoe company drop $100k on a high school football player to steer him to a school that wears your shoe in hopes that it will lead him to sign with your company when he goes to the NFL 3-5 years down the line, because of the time lag and the difficulty in projecting which players will be worth pursuing as pros. In basketball, with one and done players being the norm, it's much easier, and the ultimate payoff for the shoe company is much higher.

Under Armour has an all-star game.

Adidas is a huge part of the Army All-American game.

Nike owns the summer camps.

I don't think the endorsement/shoe deals are as important/profitable in football for all of that to matter.

Beyond the implications of shoe companies and other corporations having so much influence over where kids go to school, the culture of AAU has created a more selfish attitude among the players in how they approach the game. That's obvious to anybody who watches. I think the same thing (though, to a smaller extent) happens with 7v7 and Elite 11 and whatnot in football, creating a more selfish, less team oriented attitude among players. I hope it all gets uprooted.
