I guess Hurts didn't develop in the offseason then. Pretty tough reality for the reigning SEC freshman and SEC offensive player of the year in 2016.

Austin Allen (Arkansas) and Jake Hubenek (Texas A&M) are the most productive going into the season. They have the two best QB ratings in the league (146 vs. 145).

Drew Lock (Missouri) and Nick Fitzgerald (Mississippi State) have talent, but they don't have the supporting cast to be consistently effective.

Sean White (Auburn) and Danny Etling (LSU) are efficiency QBs. Nothing fancy, just keep the ball moving. Don't ask them to win the game by themselves.

Jalen Hurts (Alabama), Jacob Eason (Georgia), Shea Patterson (Ole Miss), Jake Bentley (South Carolina), and Feleipe Franks (Florida) all have tremendous talent and upside. Any one of these guys could have a breakout year.

Yeah, LSU fans underrated how much he sucks

Not going to get into a pissing contest, because I agree that Etling isn't an NFL prospect.

But he is a legit QB who seems to read the field, and is reasonably accurate with his passes. By default, that makes him one of the better LSU qbs we've had since our last Natty.

As a Tigers fan, I can admit the shortcomings we've had.
Unlike JJ, AJ and BH, Etling seems accurate enough. And unlike Mett, Etling seems to understand he doesn't have 10 seconds in the pocket.

Statistically it will be Patterson or Allen or Lock in some order. Fitz will lead the quarterbacks in rushing. I think Patterson leads in total offense and touchdowns.

Etling is very underrated and a tough SOB.
He's having back surgery this summer. He lead LSU to a total six first downs versus Alabama in Baton Rouge on national television. Ed Orgeron & company need to comprehend this is more than 'toughness' it requires speed and daily discipline.

There are several SEC QBs who could have outstanding seasons. This is the toughest conference in the country and to be a starting QB the kid has to be talented.

If Austin Allen makes a step forward in improvement, he will be number 1. At the Manning Camp last year, a NFL scout said Austin Allen was the best prospect of the bunch. I said, "Bull shite". But, he seen something that proved to be accurate.

I also think Fitzgerald is going to be mighty tough to stop if he can improve his passing skills.

I'm going with the guy who led the SEC in total offense last season.

If AU wasn't going to have a new starter then Etling would be behind Sean White

It's cute that you think Sean White will start for us.

2423 yards passing, 21 TDs, 10 INTs.
1375 rushing yards, 16 TDs.

Not too bad for someone without a supporting cast to make him effective (in his first year starting).

Stidham will be 1st team all-SEC. So:

1. Stidham
2. Allen
3. Hurts
4. Fitzgerald
5. Eason
6. Bentley
7. The Rest

Stidham will lead the SEC in YPP, TDs, and completion percentage, all while AU leads the league in rushing yards.

I think bentley is very good, he just doesn't have much a resume. Would like to see him for a full season first. Stidham hasn't played a down of SEC football yet. Hurts is on teh best team and is the most dynamic but he's not really a great passer, he just brings so much with his legs. Eason has more potential than anyone but hasn't really put it together yet. Fitzgerald has done well and should continue to do so. Allen is proven as well.

There's a sneaky good crop of QBs in the league this year even if they don't have the national name appeal like from years past.

Haven't you guys learned to not hype up your QBs well before the season even begins?
