How Would You Rank SEC Fan Bases on a Melt-to-Success Ratio?

The one factor that normally determines the intensity of a melt is the success that a team/program has had traditionally or just recently. If your team has been more successful and you expect success you are more likely to melt than a fan of a team who gets used to losing. Hence why Bama fans are freaking crazy, and when they lose they poison trees and beat up OU fans.

But not all things are equal, and it is clear that some fanbases produce a melt that outdoes the level of success they have had- basically unwarranted melting. Just going by "the biggest melting fanbase" isn't fair, as an Alabama shouldn't be judged on the same scale as a MSU. Hence I suggest looking at things via a Melt-to-Success ratio. I also think that success should be weighted by recency- aka a recent national title gives you more room to melt than one earned in decades previous.

How would you Rank the SEC on the Melt-to-Success ratio? My list:

1. Tennessee - they are at the top easily, and its not fair really. They have just had a bad string of luck/managment.
2. Texas A&M - like most gays we are pretty emotional when things don't go our way, and we don't have the recent national title to back it up
3. USC - they get the third spot with a bullet due to the most unreasonable rise in program expectations in the SEC the last decade. I could see them leading this list when their coach retires
4. Georgia - For a team that hasn't won a national title in my lifetime they melt almost as much as A&M. And its a nasty melt, full of deflection and pushback.
5. Ole Miss - They are kinda weird, because they do so much premelt that the post melt seems tame. But a lack of recent success and a premelt that adds up gets them in the top 5.
6. Alabama - Yes they have the most national titles, but they have BY FAR the most real world melt. Crazy Bama lady, Harvey, those kids crying, etc. It is like a St. Melt's Day Parade when they lose they are so entitled.
7. LSU - They have a high amount of melt for above average levels of success. That isn't top five, but it is top half.
8. Kentucky - If I followed basketball more I bet I would rank them higher
9. Mizzou - They barely melt, as the Damn Yankees mostly care about (non college) baseball. DGB basically has them here
10. MSU - they don't expect a lot, and they are very happy when they only get a little. Only reason they don't bottom out the list are their Egg Bowl melts when Ole Miss has something good happen.
11. Auburn - they are funny in that their melts are VERY contained sometimes. Add in recent success and they get a low ranking.
12. Arky - They used to rank higher, but they had such a setback that they barely melt in public now.
13. Vanderbuilt - not a lot of success, but not a lot of melt. Honestly I expected more bleed after their football program got gutted or that Temple loss and I was let down.
14. Florida - given the amount of success their programs have, Florida fans cannot really be trolled or pulled into a melt. I guess that is to be expected from an AARP base.

What is your list?

Good list.

I'd switch us and Vandy but your list is good. Not perfect. But good.

Florida is THAT non melty. If it was just a pure " who melts the least" Vandy is 14th. But when looking at the Melt-to-Success ratio UF pulls ahead.

Serious Florida fans are as fun as a root canal. When their coach goes to the NBA I hope they steal a coach from another SEC program just so we can get a melt out of it.

I don't think you understand the difference between melting and being trolled. I almost never see our fans melting on here.

I honestly debated putting them higher.

Yeah, I figured their spot would be debatable.

Arkansas

In 2012 they would have had USC's spot. They have fallen on this list further than anyone the last few years. You barely see an Arky melt anymore.

I agree, on a pure melt list they win. But that is no fun for them to have ANOTHER thing they dominate, so I am judging them on a ratio. On a ratio being the most successful football program of all time keeps them from being at the top.

Prior to Saban they probably were number 1.

I am considering a mix of Rant melts and real world melts. And holy shite yall's real world melts are intense. The rock alone guarantees yall stay in the top 5 until you win a title.

Plus yall fricking hold a grudge. I think the fact yall have such a long-game with melting (shite yall STILL melt about the fat man) has to be given consideration.

As I said, its not yalls fault. The fanbase didn't hire Dooley or that last BBall coach.

This. We have some 5* trolls. Good folks as well but our trolls are good, really good. In fact, they're so good everyone ignores the rest of us. Also no one is predicting a 10+ win season. We have said countless times we will be thrilled with 8 to 9 wins.

I am not judging yall just based on the Rant. Just based on the Rant LSU would win because of volume and that isn't fair.

I am looking at everything put together. And seriously the rock alone keeps yall at least in the top five in my opinion.

And the classic:

I would move LSU up based solely on the fact that even when they have success they find something to melt about. Even the Alabama fans, who have been spoiled with success after success in the last decade, can shrug and say "a win is a win" after an ugly win.

A tremendous run of success for LSU, but damn y'all got some folks who need some Valium.

They just all run to the Auburn Board after a loss to lick their wounds. It's a controlled melt, in a disturbingly cultish way.
