He has been with him his whole Head Coaching career. He was the OC/QB coach, now the HC at TTU who beat SMU last night 41-23. Had 31 first downs, passed for 413 yards. Of course, SMU also had 31 1st downs and passed for 388 yards. Will be interesting to see how he does without him as the season rolls along. Was he the man behind the man?

About as much as he missed him in the Cotton Bowl.

Which is to say: Not much at all.

I'm sure Sumlin was just a product of Kliff's success as a grad assistant as well.

The die had long been cast for that season.

Sumlin has stocked his staff with high quality coaches at every position. He was the one who originally hired KK, and has now replaced him w/ Jake Spavital, who, having coached under Holgerson for several years, is in the same spread-guru mold as Kingsbury.

I think Kliff is going to be a good coach, but I haven't seen any reason to think that Sumlin will have trouble replacing anyone on staff. In fact, part of his philosophy in hiring assistants is that he wants guys who can be head coaches someday.

More than aTm fans will admit, less than other SEC fans hope.

IMO we'll be as bad as LSU's 2012 offense. Johnny's looked a lot like Kiehl Frazier in practice and McKinney is trying to implement the flexbone. We'll Be lucky to beat everyone but Arkansas.

To a large degree it's a system with interchangeable parts. KK definitely had a great feel for the system, but he was not the creator. Spavital has a great feel also, I think he'll do just as well and bring some new wrinkles of his own, The wide receivers are going to be the key and they are friggin big and friggin fast.

No, no, no. This is the Rant. KK was THE lynchpin in A&M's success and JFF's Heisman. We're DOOOOMMMED.

Everybody should just NOT prepare for A&M now that KK is gone.

We won't know after today.

Since Sumlin has always had KK there's no history to look at either. If I were to guess I'd say they'll miss him, we'll see.

We don't know that, at this point. We know that's true with Saban, it has been proven. Look at Chizik without Malzahn. Of course, if Chizik had still had Cam it probably would have been different. We shall see.

And let's be honest with ourselves. Not a coach in America that draws up those runs. He may run 30 yards for a 13 yard gain.
