South Panola's head coach is retiring after this season. He's been a great coach. I can't deny that even though South Panola has been a pipeline of Ole Miss recruiting for many years.

Quitting - too young to retire. Never been accused of being the sharpest knife in the drawer. Not sure what his next step will be. Insurance maybe in some community that speaks redneck?

It was one of SPs weaker teams. Tony Conner was the only legit prospect on that team. And he was the best player on the field.

Plus they've only lost three games to out of state teams since 2004. The blowouts to Hoover and Bentonville in 12 and a tight loss to Hoover in 11. They've beaten Apopka, Colquitt County, North Little Rock and about a dozen other out of state teams in that time.

I agree with you. Willis Wright & Ricky Woods were money at SP.

Pogue almost left a few years ago for Tupelo.
He was asking for to much money.

He is miles behind Willis Wright and Ricky Woods. Not even in the same ballpark

Yeah but in 9 years he has won a Natty plus 5 state championships? Is that right or am I wrong?

Seeing as the game is in South Panola.... Doubt money is passing through Clinton.

We've got Chad Kelly handing over the back packs personally in batesville though.

Sure he did. It had much less to do with him than you think. Of course, who am I kidding, you have so many sources...

Colquitt is a different program now.
The year Hoover beat them so bad they still won state.

By the way Clinton mauling South Panola early 3rd 35-14. South Panola is the most overrated high school program nationally. A few years ago Hoover played at South Panola. Mississippi people said Hoover has no chance South Panola will kill them. Final score calling the dogs off Hoover 35 South Panola 13. In Alabama South Panola would a good 5A program.

I'll never forget that time a little 2a school from Louisiana travelled to Hoover and took it to them for the win. Hoover people were all like they have no chance..

They lost to MUS when Barry Brunetti was MUS's QB. Believe that was 2009. Both teams were nationally top 10 teams, game was on ESPN

Colquitt and Apopka both were top 25 teams when USP beat them. Apopka a top 10. Hoover beat average SP teams with almost zero D1 talent on them. 4a Wayne county was likely better than Panola that year.

Overlooked MUS. Lost to them in 13 also. Something like 15-5 against non Mississippi teams in those dozen years. Two losses to Hoover and MUS.

You guys aren't talking about Cam Akers the running back that's going to LSU right?

By signing day, You will be more concerned with commits jumpin ship as opposed to landing any more blue chip recruits. The news will begin to trickle Bama week. By signing day, very few Rebel fans will be actively following recruiting.

That sounds ominous. But we will have a top 20 class this year. And Cam Akers will likely be a part of it. If not, I'll wish him well at Ohio State.
