Yes, you are wrong. Clemson stepped on the field with what, 3 times less 5 stars than Bama? They held their own against them all night long

When Chad Morris leaves their offense will be terrible.

Well, he signs all the letters he writes recruits with them, so I'd say he knows a lot.

Perhaps you should keep up with recruiting a little better.

Yes.

I always enjoy it when average joe fans deem themselves competent to criticize the football acumen of people who have been around football their entire lives and have risen to the top of the profession due to their proficiency at coaching it.

^This. Just because he put together a good team (he is an excellent recruiter) and hired decent oc and dc doesn't mean he knows anything about x's and o's.

i thought it was a mistake to kick a fg with 7 mins left down 7. it left them down by 4 and they gave up a huge kick return right after which was totally predictable.

go for the td. if you get it, it's tied. if not, you pin bama deep in their own territory

He's never been a coordinator, which lends people to assume he's not a great X and O guy. Not that unreasonable a thought. But that doesn't mean he can't be a very good HC.

The way the defensive line had been playing, I would have made the same decision. Kick coverage had been pretty solid most of the night as well, so I would kick it, trust my defense to get a stop, and let my quarterback go win the game.

To come away empty-handed at that stage in the ball game is a sign that you don't think you can stop them. Saban was in the same position with the onside kick, he knew his defense was flat worn out, so they took a chance and Clemson wasn't ready for it.

Compared to your average dude watching the game, he knows a frickton of Xs and Os. That's my point. He has to know a lot in order to make good hires and manage the game.

I do agree that being a HC and a coordinator are fundamentally different jobs.

I figured the OP meant in the context of college football coaches, not in the context of the general public. I could be wrong.

Why do people think Dabo isn't an intelligent guy? Reminds me of a young Bobby Bowden

I guess they don't like the fact that he doesn't try to be something he's not. He's just a dude who grew up rough from Alabama that somehow sees the good in nearly any situation handed to him.

He's done a hell of a job turning around our program, and this is only the beginning. The culture has totally changed in Clemson, we aren't the same bunch of Tigers that go beat a Florida State only to get blanked by Wake Forest the next weekend.

Then why make him the highest paid coordinator in the country? Lol

Smart could certainly be a bust, but I think he deserves a lil bit more credit than what your giving him shawty
