What the frick are you talking about? Do you even know what makes the line move? If the majority of money (not people) takes a particular side, the line will move toward that direction. i.e.-if money thinks Alabama covers and bets on it, then that line will move UP; if it thinks State will, then the line will move Down...it ain't complicated.

Yes, that was my point. Do you really think Vegas didn't know which way the line would move?

They know a ton of people bet on Bama, they literally have to make the line absurdly high so they don't get destroyed when Bama covers. This is why you are only covering like 30% of games right now.

Another way they play this is betting. Set a line so that it will move, let your sharps pile up on the other side. I wasn't claiming the general public and majority of money was backing state, my point was sharps will lay a ton on the + in this line while the general public bets Bama and inflates it.

I had St winning this game at beginning of year b/c of where it fell on the schedule.. It will be closer than 10pts and I still feel strongly than State pulls this one out.

I would take a 20 point spread and I'd put down about 100$

On Sunday afternoon at 3:40 pm the line came out in Vegas with Ala. - 6 1/2 points. By 3:45pm, Alabama had gone to 7 points. The people who bet on Alabama and moved that national line to 7 are called the "smart money". interesting note: line has steadily moved upward and is now 9 1/2.

And we all know that when the majority of people bet in a certain direction, they usually win. That's how Vegas built all those fancy buildings -- by paying out losses to the "people who are moving the line".
