I can see Saban getting a couple.

quote:

The NCAA has augmented its rule governing sideline behavior. Officials now have the power to issue an instant 15-yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct when a coach encroaches on the field to protest “or otherwise demonstrate disagreement with an officiating decision.”

But after a couple... i can see this happening...

Zero. Sumlin is incapable of arguing bad calls or working the officials.

Saban is so detail oriented, i will be surprised to see him get one. He probably will, as will all coaches, but I could see him following the rule, as an example of attention to detail.

In before Bert's feet will not be on the field of play but he will get flagged anyway.

I like the rule - as long as it's equally enforced. Someone should keep up with all the D1 calls vs. all the times it could be called.

Sideline Tolerance Ratio - Calls/Should-be calls (Times crossing the line)

It won't be. The better coaches will always get a longer leash, as they should.

I agree they will but why do you think they should?

Because that's how the world works. No reason for CFB to start flagging coaches in a big game, on either side.

Agreed, that is why I don't understand the should

The home coach will also get more leeway or more warnings before a flag is thrown

I don't recall us getting any sideline penalties last year though

Butch Jones is a dark horse for this contest

The strain of containing his hissy fits will eventually cause an aneurysm.

Bert is going to be a penalty magnet this season.
