2, but if 2 teams from the same conference play for the national title and some how neither won the conference then the conference champion still AQs.

Ahhhh yes! Thanks for clearing that up. The way the post I replied to was worded made it sound like the SEC Champ could never play in the NCG and I knew that wasn't right. It's late.... I'm tired so I must have just missed the boat on what was being said
