Saban seemed really calm and at peace during the post game presser. Never seen him quite like this after a loss.

Let's just say that it wasn't his best coached game.

1. Not kicking a field goal to go up 2 scores and going for it on 4th down inside the 20.
It was a battle between Malzahn and Saban of going for it on 4th down at that point and when Saban didn't try for the field goal,
I thought it was hubris in that situation. Auburn can convert, so can we.

The biggest coaching mistake of the game was in failing to prepare the kicking team for a possible return.
If I were Saban, I would be firing my Special Teams Coordinator right now. Even if Saban wasn't thinking about the possibility of a return, it's absurd that no one on the sideline thought about the possibility. They had to have watched the LSU vs UAB game in scouting LSU, so they watched Odell Beckham, Jr return a missed FG over 100 yards for a TD.
They even had a full timeout before the kick to prepare for a possible return. And yet, every single Alabama player watched the ball until it was caught. If any Alabama players had made any effort to get into coverage lanes before Davis caught the ball, then Davis wouldn't have had those 3 inches he had along the sideline.
The decision to attempt the FG wasn't bad coaching. It was a calculated risk, and sometimes those things work and sometimes they don't. The failure to prepare the kicking team for a return, however, was horrible coaching.

That tells me he's either headed to Texas soon or he is about to receive a big raise. Those are the only reasons why he wouldn't be overly upset about this loss.

Saban is not the best in game coach, his bread and butter is recruiting, development, and preparation.
This becomes more and more obvious to me every year.

Look how many wins he racks up with being the best at what he does.
I'd take him in a heartbeat flaws and all.
I dont think many tide fans will hold it against him. Without Saban what was Bama.

5. Keeping a fan-by-fan log of Alabama supporters to see who left early.

I feel like Saban overthought the end. No other team in the nation would have got the "generosity" afforded Saban by the refs to put 1 second back on the clock. If that would have been any other team refs would have called it end of regulation. Slime wanted to keep Bama firmly in the hunt so he gave Saban that 1 second. Bama deserved to lose at that point.

Mr. AU,
The difference is Les has never pretended to be the God of College Football. Les makes some interesting calls from time to time...but somehow, he's more successful than not. We love for the rest of the SEC to underestimate Ole Les...of course, it begs the question, Who gave ya'll your one loss?
