How long before Reverend Freeze's rah, rah schtick wears off...

in Oxford. Last year he seemed kind of new and fresh but this year it is just annoying. Likely looking at a 3-4 start and then they will have a chance to win out but more than likely will drop one more. Will 7-5 be good enough for him to reel in more top recruits or will salary cap restrictions hold them back? Just something to chew on.

Other than the incredible recruiting class he signed, I haven't been very impressed with Freeze. I think he is going to fizzle out pretty quickly.

That's not true at all. Nutt would've lost both the Vandy and Texas games. I also find it humorous that the OP still has Tunsilitis from February.

Time will tell, but I hate the fact that he shits himself in big games. He's learning but I don't know if it can be called "learning" when he continues to make the same idiotic mistakes over and over (trick plays on huge downs, going for it on 4th when every other sec coach punts, running the same plays over and over). I think we are going to need to bring in someone with experience in our offense to help Hugh in these big game situations, at least until he learns how to handle them.
Unfortunately though it looks like the better d coordinators in the league have figured out his offense. I think we can still win 9 games and will beat LSU, which is the main game I care about..Hell we might score 100 on them, but to compete in the long run Hugh has got to learn from his mistakes.

He's a good coach and great recruiter.
His biggest problem has been his inability to temper expectations in Oxford. That's not really his fault either. People in Oxford are so hungry for a winner its palpable. When I attended there and Orgeron was coach, they would come close to a victory or barely beat a shitty team and the town was electric afterwards with optimism.
If he brings in a couple more recruiting classes like the last one and makes them a little less top heavy, they will be consistent 8-9 win team with 10 wins sprinkled in. Their geographic location is their greatest inhibitor to success. They share a state with another major program and are surrounded by powerhouses on all sides in a state where rarely does a blue chip player grow up a huge Rebel fan and carry allegiance to the University of Mississippi.

I don't suppose turning what was probably one of the worst teams in SEC history (2011 Ole Miss) into a bowl team (2012 Ole Miss) is even the slightest bit impressive.

He is like Hal Mumme if Mumme were a preacher. Odds be damned. LSU will skull drag Ole Miss this year.

He will have the Mullen effect. Be a good motivator and hype man, string along a few good classes (Hughes is obviously better at this), and win a few bowl games, but eventually fans will grow tired of hearing his false promises.

He has little experience as a head coach.. These are growing pains.. Give him 2 more years and decide.. Hell a 7-5 season would be a step in the right direction

We didn't expect to start well and anybody who did probably is a stupid homer. His biggest problem is the play calling. I wouldn't be as angry about the AU loss if it wasn't for his horrendous play calls and his lack of addressing it publicly(two games in a row). I tired of the "so close" schtick during Cutcliffe's era

One thing Hugh and Ole Miss have going for them is Ross Bjork.
He has instantly begun to separate Ole Miss from Mississippi State in terms of facilities, energy, alumni donations, and overall athletic program momentum.
