If you're preseason #1 in three major sports, I think it immediately triggers red flags at the NCAA compliance offices.

we lose a ton of guys after this year, but we've recruited very well and generally play a lot of guys so they're not completely inexperienced when called to play.
That being said, we have our OL basically intact (minus Dismukes) for this year and another TWO years, unless one of the tackles leaves early and Jeremy Johnson appears to be a very, very good QB that will take the job running once Marshall is gone.

Indeed it is. In Alabama's last four national championship seasons, Alabama started the season as follows:
1992 - #9
2009 - #5
2011 - #3
2012 - #2
I'm pretty sure the only season where we started #1 and won the national championship was 1978.
