This is a great article that discusses how the system adapted to the player instead of the constipated mess he had at Bama. Bama has some pretty good QBs but they can't make it to the upper tier in the NFL. They are used to having it way too easy via Bama's O line.

quote:

Hurts was a pretty serious guy, specifically after coming to them from Tuscaloosa. From there, they were able to help him ease up, play his game, and learn at his stop at OU.

Ooof, not a good look for Sleepy Nick.

quote:

Riley and Nick Saban each have a claim to fame to the NFL star after playing for both of them. Their teachings have paid off for Hurts in the pros and both coaches get to enjoy watching it play out for him.

You have to give Riley the credit for letting him fly. Already in the Super bowl.

The fact Milroe will probably be processed is weird. I think Bama just doesn’t know how to develop DT QB’s. They definitely develop Pro style QB’s. Looking at the last 5 to 10 QB’s that started there kinda prove that.

But that’s just my opinion. I’m not gonna split hairs bc I guarantee you Bama consider Young a DT, but he’s pro style to me.

Riley no doubt had a role in his development and schemed to his strengths.

But, Hurts didn't learn anything about playoff wins from Riley.

I along with all OU fans hate Riley. But there’s no denying that slimy bastard is the best QB developer in the game right now at any level. Jalens mechanics were not good before he got to OU and Riley had him as a heisman finalist after a few months. Credit a lot of that to Jalens insane work ethic also.

Well hell, why not grab the closest Oklahoma fan you can get your hands on, and give him a big wet one? Let's consummate this brand-new union.

Why, he posted an article about Hurts improvement? I would suggest that both Bama and OU had a hand in that, but his biggest leap came once he went pro.

I am not sure why Hurts being in the superbowl has anything to do with Louisiana...

Jalen did the most difficult thing in sports: he improved his downfield accuracy after leaving college.

Riley deserves credit in his development as well but Jalen Hurts is a beast and deserves all the accolades and success he is enjoying.

This . . . it was something other than college tutelage that elevated his game so much and most of it kicked in this last off season.

Yes, Jalen was unfortunate to work under that bum offensive coach by the name of Brian DaBoll while at Alabama.

Dude has no clue how to coach offense in college or the NFL!

It didn’t appear that Hurt had progressed with Riley when he played in the semi final a few years ago. But I didn’t watch all the Oklahoma games that year, so maybe he did. Against LSU, he looked awful.

Bama made him tough and taught him how to use his legs and avoid the turnover. Oklahoma taught him to have confidence throwing the ball downfield. Combine all that with a guy who has excellent character and give him a great OL and receiver corps and you have a super bowl ready QB.
