How John Calipari once confronted coach who accused him of cheating in Las Vegas

Let's set the scene: A prominent coach has been in pursuit of this particular recruit (Parrish doesn't name the kid or the coach) for two years, attending every single one of his games. In this coach's mind, this kid is a lock to go to his school.

Enter Calipari. According to Parrish, he watched one of this kid's games, made him an offer and the kid decided to go to Kentucky. That whole undeniable BBN allure. Got it?

Here's where it gets hilarious. Unidentified coach pitches a fit and is convinced that Calipari is cheating, so he starts yapping to other coaches. Word gets back to Calipari that he's being accused of tampering this kid's recruitment. He spies the talkative coach at an event in Vegas three years ago, Parrish says, and confronts him about it.

“100% true, John confronts this guy in Vegas, because he heard the guy was yapping. He confronts him. Cal approaches the coach and says something like ‘Listen, I know what you’ve been saying’

‘No, I haven’t been saying–‘

‘I know you did, I know you said what you said. I’ve heard it from enough people, but I want you to understand one thing. Yes I am the type of guy who can come in at the last minute and take any player I want from you. You can spend your whole life recruiting a kid and at the end of the day, if I want him, I’ll get him. If we want him, we’ll get him. Don’t ever get that confused. Be appreciative every time I don’t come in and get your guy. Don’t accuse me of cheating when I do.
