Nebraska probably has the worst outlook in terms of a traditional power. They just downgraded their coach.

I think Nebraska is in trouble for several reasons. I would like to think of myself as a casual observer and fan of the nubbers (my dad is a huge husker fan). I grew up as a Husker fan in Omaha for most of my childhood before we moved- back in the 90s.

It is not the same. We still try to get up to Lincoln once a year to see a game when Mizzou is on bye week or a road game that we aren't attending. Nebraska simply doesn't have the corner on the TV market like they used to. I think comparing the recent history of Mizzou v. Nebraska is a perfect example. Nebraska owned Mizzou during those years where Nebraska sat up on the perch with a few other teams for TV time. The last 10 games between the schools resulted in a 5-5 split.

The player rules have changed (Osborne was great at manipulating the qualifying rules) and the nubs no longer sit on a perch alone. Combine that with a small population to draw from...

Side note: Mizzou and Nebraska need to play in KC every year at Arrowhead.
