I have a friend, Clay (not his real name), that insists that the Big 12 is stronger than the SEC this year, top to bottom. I told him that it is too early in the season to really know, but I think it would be an interesting exercise to try to determine who is stronger.

Ranking of SEC teams (based on rankings and other factors)
1. Alabama
2. LSU
3. Georgia
4. South Carolina
5. Florida
6. Miss State
7. Tennessee
8. Texas A&M
9. Auburn
10. Mizzou
11. Ole Miss
12. Arkansas
13. Vanderbilt
14. Kentucky

Ranking of the Big 12:
1. Kansas State
2. West Virginia
3. Texas
4. TCU
5. Oklahoma
6. Baylor
7. Oklahoma State
8. Texas Tech
9. Iowa State
10. Kansas

Matchups using Top 10:
Alabama vs. Kansas State
LSU vs. West Virginia
Georgia vs. Texas
South Carolina vs. TCU
Florida vs. Oklahoma
Miss State vs. Baylor
Tennessee vs. Oklahoma State
Texas A&M vs. Texas Tech
Auburn vs. Iowa State
Mizzou vs. Kansas

Matchups using Bottom 10:
Kentucky vs. Kansas
Vanderbilt vs. Iowa State
Arkansas vs. Texas Tech
Ole Miss vs. Oklahoma State
Mizzou vs. Baylor
Auburn vs. Oklahoma
Texas A&M vs. TCU
Tennessee vs. Texas
Miss State vs. West Virginia
Florida vs. Kansas State

Matchups based on tossing the top 2 and bottom 2 of the SEC:
Georgia vs. Kansas State
South Carolina vs. West Virginia
Florida vs. Texas
Miss State vs. TCU
Tennessee vs. Oklahoma
Texas A&M vs. Baylor
Auburn vs. Oklahoma State
Mizzou vs. Texas Tech
Ole Miss vs. Iowa State
Arkansas vs. Kansas

Who would win these games?

no.

Bama > KSU
LSU > WV
UGA > UT
USC > TCU TCU won't be top 25 by year end
UF > OU they are awful this year compared to their history. Probably 3 losses.
MSU > Baylor

UT < OSU
TAMU > TTech
Auburn = Iowa State
Mizz > Kansas

As for UT, I just haven't seen them play enough. After this weekend, I'll have a better idea. It's just hard for me to accept they will improve that much from last year.

Kansas State is good, but I think they have depth problems as the season progresses. We'll see. Anyways, Bama still pounds them.

LSU v. WVU would be interesting and one of teh better match ups. Late season, LSU wins hands down. Early season it would be a toss up right now. Too many question marks for me to call that game.

Texas would get throttled by UGA

Auburn would beat Iowa St. Chizik would do everything possible to beat them.

Kansas would beat Mizzou.

Other than that, I agree with your picks.

9-1, SEC.
LSU v West Virginia could be interesting if LSU's offense doesn't improve.

Texas looks pretty good this year, and UGA is terrible OOC.

We'd win 6 easily imo. The other 4 are tossups that could go either way.

Texas doesn't play a legit defense all year... seriously, they don't.

This is the first year I think UGA is legit. And Texas' defense allowed Ole Miss to move the ball pretty much at will.

I think UGA would beat Texas 31-17 or something like that.

9-1

I'm looking at the Auburn game as being the SEC's only possible loss. Thats a 50/50 deal on that game. Iowa state is unpredictable. They knocked off OSU last year.

Really the only team in that top 10 I think is truely dangerous though would be K-State. They are a grind it out team.
