Wrestling is a legit sport, so do other teams start a program? Are they gonna claim more natty’s than others because they are the only ones playing in the one sport?

Same way it works with only Alabama and Tennessee having rowing. They compete in another conference.

Forgot about them usually because they don’t do anything.

Anyways, it’d be cool to see the SEC expand with wrestling programs.

Yes a perennial top 10 team in the country. When we left the Big 12, they wouldn't let us wrestle in the Big 12, so wrestling went to the MAC for 10 years. Now they're back competing in the Big 12.

And we won the Big 12 last year. Suck it Oklahoma State and Iowa State.

They would put their wrestling program in another conference. Tennessee has atleast 1 sports program in the big 12 because of a lack of SEC programs

Edit: it’s the big 12 and rowing.

OU wrestling is remaining in the Big 12.

I hope the league adds wrestling in the future (long shot) or OU adds swimming (possible)

Fun fact: SC and UK men’s soccer used to be in the CUSA. As of 2022 they both joined the Sun Belt which also includes UCF and WVU.

We actually have an in conference matchup vs Coastal

SEC Wrestling was a casualty of Title IX. They weren't Big 8 or Big 10 levels, but Alabama,Auburn,LSU and Tennessee had some pretty good teams in the 1970's and 80's.

it's called being an "affiliate member" of another conference, so I guess they'll still be an affiliate member of the Big 12

Mizzou is starting the season ranked 4th.

Don’t understand why more SEC teams don’t have wrestling. Brandon, Fl is ranked 9th best hot spot area for wrestling in the country and Chattanooga Is ranked in the top 20.

The hardest tournament to get into is the Super 32. In the tournament this year FL was 3rd with 169 entries, GA was 6th with 129, and SC was 8th with 92. MS was 1 of 3 states that didn’t have a kid in the tournament.

Entries by state
Nationally ranked area’s

Most of us are straight down here, but if you want to put on tight clothes and hug up on another man, more power to you.

Won't happen. Title IX killed a very good wrestling program at LSU. I think the Tigers were ranked as high as 4th in the country before the program was dropped.

Title IX. Must have equal number of men and women's sports.

The oldest real sport is wrestling. It teaches discipline and toughness and physicality.

If you want to trash wrestling because you think it's "homoerotic" then that's your loss.

And Southern baws wouldn't be worth a damn at wrestling anyway. You're too damn fat to make a weight cut.
