Actually, the Sips are negotiating the buyout terms. They are also a little afraid to hire him due to the crap storm surrounding his firing. They had to settle a discrimination lawsuit from the Track coach, which cost them more than $1M.

Lane's Texas network is close to zero
Major Applewhite has a network of high school coaches built up already in Texas
Only way I see Houston doing this is for National publicity
Houston does not need or want this because they can just recurit their own backyard

Awful salty for a fan of a team that hasn't been relevant since Vince Young was on campus...when was the last time you guys were bowl eligible?

Did they actually settle? I thought not only that Kearney refused to settle, but was asking for over $3 Million, which requires Board of Regents approval.

Keeps our Coaches close by our recruiting base so they can work and invite recruits to practice.

It is what it is. I go every year regardless, so it's an added bonus that we're playing in it
