How do you think Ja’Marr Chase stacks up against some of the best recent SEC WR?

Curious where fans of other SEC programs rank him. Granted he basically only has one year of production, but he’s the best WR I’ve ever seen at LSU. So I was curious if other SEC fans rank him up there with guys like AJ Green, Julio, Alshon, Mike Evans, OBJ, Amari, Jeudy, etc? (not an all encompassing list, just first names I thought of when it comes to elite WR in conference over the last ten years)

Do you have any comparative stats?

If his QB is garbage then he’s garbage.

300 yards as a freshman and 1700 as a sophomore over 15 games.

His style actually reminds me a lot of Alshon Jeffery. I know he's not quite as big, but his body control and contortion is similar IMHO

Tell us how you feel about Jeudy.

For a single season and trying to account for different eras (at least in my lifetime)

1. Josh Reed
2. Amari Cooper
3. Jamar Chase
4. Jabar Gaffney
5. Alshon Jeffrey
6. Reidel Anthony
7. Mike Evans
8. Jerry Juedy
9. Jordan Matthews
10. Marcus Nash

Fun fact, AJ Green never had a 1000 yard season at UGA, albeit injuries prevented him from doing so.

Yep - and Julio only had 1, and only had 1,133 in 2010.

Whoa! It’s almost like he benefited from having more than a few weeks with his qb to build chemistry or something!

Breaking news: WR’s are better with better QB play, and sometimes players get better from their freshman to sophomore year

While I wouldn't take the garbage QB approach, the fact that Chases' receiving yards increased by 570% merits consideration in regards to Burrow's legendary season.

Would pump the breaks on your company of choice until he plays another season to prove he can do it with and without a Heisman winning QB.

So did Jefferson and Marshall. And Moss. And Edwards Hilliare

And a better offensive line and a better scheme.

Someone who made up a list left off Odell Beckham. And Jarvis Landry. Both had 1000 yard seasons.

Btw Chase did not, start as a freshman.

plus offenses are so much more wide open than when guys like Julio and Green played. I'd say Green is probably the best of all those listed though.

Chase and Jefferson made Burrow better. A lot of throws Burrow made to them were just in the vicinity. Not to say Joe also didn't place a lot directly in their hands.

Meh. If you saw him play, you’d know that he earned the Belitnicoff because he was the best WR in the country.

He had that one bad drop in the NCG, but other than that he was as dominant as any SEC WR ever.

Part of it was Burrow being better, and part of Burrow being better was Chase, Jefferson, Marshall and Moss making acrobatic catches and always finding a window for Burrow to put the ball through.

When there was no window, he’d just outplay the defender and go up and get it.

He was better than Josh Reed all things considered. His stats would’ve been better if Rohan had had anyone else to throw to.

Try again. There’s been like 4 Alabama WR since Julio Jones that have made jokes for QBs look like absolute terrors on the football field at times because they were that good. Joe Burrow was 100% the reason Ja’Marr Chase succeeded this season and all you tiny little cajuns know it.

He’s very good, but not top tier of the last 15 years or so. I think most people attribute his numbers to Joe Burrow rather then buy into him being an all time great receiver. AJ Green (UGA), Alshon Jefferies (USCe), Julio Jones (UA) and Amari Cooper (UA) are the best in recent history I’ve watched play.

I don't dispute him being the best WR in the country this past season.

I just think Burrow's play is a good enough reason to take a wait and see approach before grouping him with Mike Evans, Julio Jones, Alshon Jeffery, etc.

To not take a wait and see approach, given the circumstances, seems naive.

Ja'Marr reminds me so much of Josh Reed. He is a taller version but he is strong as hell and looks like a running back with the ball. All I know is that that dude from Clemson just got out of the burn unit.

Greatest of all time in the SEC. I dare say made Julio Jones look like a scrub and I didn’t think that was possible
