How do you know when your HC has crossed the line in stroking his own ego?

I say it's when the head coach hires a former coordinator at said school, as an analyst
Especially if there is zero compatibility in X's and O's philosophy
Frankly speaking... there is zero reason to do this.
Thus, the head coach of that school is setting a record for narcissism. WORLD RECORD!!!

he's saying borges is not really a match offensive philosophically speaking to what Gus does. The hire doesn't seem to match much, unless Gus is planning on having Al look at opposing offenses and be an analyst whose value is primarily for the AU defense.

This is a weird post. A guy with a strong history of QB development whose family loves Auburn...why wouldn't you hire him to have his opinions around?

Do you all remember "Winston Smith", the main character in the novel "1984" by George Orwell.
Winston was a real person who did not want to live his life in some pseudo utopia, and he was punished for it. But Big Brother was not content to simply squash him. Big Brother toyed with Winston's mind until finally Winston gave up and drank the koolaid of global tyranny willing slavery. And then, just when Winston smiled and accepted his role in the Satanic "utopia" his world had become, by force, he had a bullet put through the back of his head. He was taught a hard lesson, and then he was executed.
THAT my friends is what Gus Malzahn is doing to Al Borges.
If I were Al Borges, I'd GTFO ASAP

Agree 100%. W3 all know it is impossible to mess different philosophies together or to expand a playbook or add new plays. It is also not possble to watch film and learn from film or to self scout. Hiring Borges was totally a stoke of ego.
