Yards before contact for running backs, tfl allowed and sacks allowed are good measures imo...

Alabama 2012 and Auburn 2013 were easily the 2 best lines I think I've ever seen.


ONLY problem is that first one gave up a lot of sacks, but I think that's the think. You judge the line based on it's ability to just wear down a defense. Which means, does the ypc increase slightly or big each quarter? Not an exact science but I think a good method nonetheless. Obviously not based on ypc either.

Bama has had a very good OL the past few years...but may see drop off slightly in 2014, but their drop off is better than most teams. Its been an important component to Bama's success.

The 2011 team had human vending machines as Ol. The fact most people don't realize is that Saban has found pure gold in the JUCO ranks for some of his OL & DL the past five years. Recruiting high school talent is still paramount but they usually take two years to produce at a SEC level and some take three years.
