Bjork goes from Ole Miss to Texas A&M to Ohio State? John Cohen goes from Mississippi State to Auburn.

Make it make sense

These big wheels have to take care of one another lest they themselves get screwed

It happens everywhere how about recycling politicians onto corporate boards.

As long as he's not asked to hire a new football head coach or handle a NCAA investigation he's an adequate AD

If you add in Stricklin, the picture becomes clearer.

Mississippi schools are seeking to dominate in the decades ahead by playing the long game & slowly exporting program destroyers one at a time. If, like Ross, they get a 2 for 1 deal, even better.

Stricklin was mostly fine at State, good for marketing and facilities improvements, but to be fair he never had to make a football hire and he totally nuked the men’s basketball program to the point that it took over a decade for our fans to care about it again.

Cohen was a bad AD for State. Inherited a department in a good spot, left it in a subpar spot, and blamed other people for it.

I’ll never be able to explain this phenomenon with Bjork. I was convinced he was getting canned at Ole Miss, and then again at A&M, and he keeps failing upward.

We also exported Byrne so if DeBoer ends up bringing down the Alabama dynasty, the master plan is complete.

They don't make them like they used to...
Bill Arnsparger - I'm curious what LSU fans think of him. He spent just a short time there as HC.

WWII veteran, USMC. Ran the best defenses in the history of the Dolphins franchise, and some of the best in NFL history. Tough, disciplined guy.

After scandals at LSU that he thought harmed the reputation of the school and thus hurt recruiting, he left as HC there and took the AD job at UF - this was in the middle of UF's probation issues in the 80s. I've always been curious how that came about. He was a player then a coach, and had no administrative experience, and suddenly bolts from LSU as the HC to be AD at UF. Marshall Criser was president of UF at the time and he came from a blue collar background, as did Arnsparger. Maybe they knew each other.

Arnsparger cleaned things up at UF. Got rid of Norm Sloan, the basketball coach, who was quite popular and successful but Arnsparger thought he was too much of a risk for NCAA infractions. It was a contentious situation but Arnsparger got rid of Norm. There were lots of rumors that I remember, leading you to believe there were some dirty things taking place in bball, but Norm did love his players and the school. Just a bad situation. It was sad to see him go.

Arnsparger hired an interim coach, Don Devoe, and there was pretty much a revolt as Devoe was looked at as a douchebag. IIRC the players hated him. The team tanked and Arnsparger ditched Devoe, then hired Lon Kruger - this was a massive hire for UF, and got UF to their first final four.

Most importantly, Arnsparger did clean things up at UF and when it came time to hire a new football coach, he knew he had to bring in a great coach that was also a stickler for following the rules - he went and got Spurrier, who had just won the ACC at Duke. This is the most important hire in the history of the school.

Arnsparger was great for UF athletics, overall. He cleaned things up and put pieces into place that elevated the athletics department. It was under his watch that UF started winning all of those all-sports trophies. He set UF up for success and when he left and went back to the NFL, that's when Jeremy Foley took over.

Arnsparger doesn't get mentioned and doesn't get the credit he deserves. Guys like Scott Stricklin are not in the same universe as Arnsparger.

Like many schools, UF has had a string of very influential people that came from a background of serving in WWII. Now, in most schools, it's just ivory tower types, and it shows.

you'll see. just like we tried to tell florida fans about stricklin. john cohen is an abject, woke failure of an ad. you are fricked if he has to make a football hire. you are fricked if fundraising is needed out of him. you are fricked if you need a personable, professional politician of an ad (which every ad should be).

I'm so glad ya'll took him off our hands.

lsu will never win another ncaa football title in the NIL era with Brian Kelly at the helm.

baton rouge is a failing shithole 3rd world country.

that said, how simple of a coonass brain do you have to where you call Leach a homerun hire? while I liked leach, it was the easy hire, and everyone knew it. the verdict is still out on Jans. Cohen is shite at hiring coaches, and even worse in the behind the scenes stuff.

he single-handedly crippled state's NIL program. he literally just said frick that shite, I'm not interested. thank God for selmon and the work he's putting in, along with our collective. in the time that shitstain has been gone we've revived our NIL to solid middle of the pack. you wouldn't know this because you're an lsu fan, too busy dodging bullets and getting fricked by corrupt politicians while trying to find real estate in mississippi to move to.

anyone who lets their kid be a tranny shouldn't be heading up a d1 athletic program.

No comment on the fact that you won your only championship in anything ever with him at the helm + you sound even more bitter lol. You will be singing this same sad song about Selmon before you know it, LSUs worst shape in any of the 3 major sports is better than miss st will ever be in anything, if there is an ounce of success that comes out of the shite hole that is Starkville best believe the big dogs will come and take it, every time

^^Hey look everyone, another "fan" of a school that was never attended by said "fan". One of those people that base their life's value on accomplishments by 18-23 year olds that he's never even met!^^

Leach was fine in the short term but in the long term his recruiting staff was killing the program. I’m by no means Anti-Leach, but we had the chance to hire Sark at that same time and went with Leach. Sark may not have stayed but a year or two but I think he would’ve been the better hire in this era.

Jans was a booster hire. Cohen could not have cared less about men’s basketball.

If you wanna give him credit for the baseball championship then sure, but I mean it’s no wonder the former baseball coach knows what to do with baseball. It was all the other sports that were a problem. And to be fair, baseball might end up being one too. If Lemonis sucks for the third year in a row and gets himself fired, that’s on Cohen too for hiring the Larry Coker of baseball.

Haven’t even mentioned that he allowed State’s women’s basketball program to go from national title contender to afterthought because he and Schaefer didn’t get along.

Not sure how you can destroy a football program that is a stepping stone Job? The second anyone goes there and has success they will be poached, much like your ADs lol.
