You wish - anything to avoid Bama. Surprised you didn't engage in your usual false bravado. I guess the truth slips through from time to time.

I'm guessing this is just a way for the bigger programs to avoid having to pay SE Bumfrick St a million bucks to come and get their arse kicked (or, in Tennessee'scase, administer an arse kicking) in front of an empty stadium.

The CDC just came out and reported it appears COVID cannot be spread within conference, but non-conference it will cause apocalyptic type results.

I guess one theory is that if one conference/region flares up and has to shut down, it won’t force everything to shut down.

Not sure about reasoning, but if this does happen and the Power 5 only play conference games this season, this could be the beginning of a permanent split between the Power 5 and the remaining conferences.

Personally, I think that would be a good thing for college football going forward.

The whole thing is ridiculous. If we're all going to get it, wtf do we disrupt our lives at the same time.

The idea I believe is two fold.

1) Stadiums are not going to be at 100% if any footbal is played so playing little sisters of the poor $1M to come get beat isn't cost effective anymore.

2) A conference can set their rules and protocols on safety and enforce it on all their member schools. Even if other conferencs have protocls that are similar they won't be identical and so a conferrence can effect a consistent set of safety rules for all games that season. Also an all conference schedules gives more flexibilty to move games during a season if needed.

I should’ve known my layered insult would go zooming over your head.

Let me break it down for you.
- I put all bad teams on A1abana’s schedule
- I put all good teams on LSU’s schedule
- LSU isn’t on A1abana’s schedule because LSU is good
- A1abana isn’t on LSU’s schedule because they aren’t good

Tony Fauci said the virus won’t spread during conference play. The virus will spread if games are played against non conference opponents though.

It’s not about preventing the spread of covid.

This is a money decision. The 4 OOC games are typically games that SEC schools pay the opponent to play in. If no one is allowed in the stadium or reduced capacity the benefit isn’t there to pay a team $1 million to play a game.

However if these 4 games are replaced with SEC games then the SEC can keep up their end of the TV contract and get their TV money. So they don’t pay to play Nichols or Georgia Southern but the SEC could still get the TV contact money.

Yes,but some SEC schools are losing a payday from their kick-off classic games.
Don't think it has anything to do with payouts. The main issue it that the SEC has no control over what other schools and
conferences decide to do in regards to CV.
They had to get some type of certainty over what they could control and this was the only way to do it

I highly doubt any games get "replaced"

Most of the OOC games are against cupcakes. The conference will still get a big chunk of their TV revenue from the big conference matchups and SECCG.

One game vs three games. That’s not a hard checkbook to balance. Also will they get the same payout if fans aren’t allowed in the stadium?

So you agree they potentially won’t get all of the contract value? What if they want to get all of it? What if they could increase the payout?

I have never read the SEC tv contract or have any specific knowledge of it. I’m just speculating on what could happen.

There are other OOC's on the road but I still believe that the cancellation of
the OOC's has more to do with controlling
who you can play and getting it settled now.You just don't know other conferences or schools are gonna do come September.

No doubt there'll be some settlements with
cupcake cancellations and maybe some lawsuits.

No doubt but they will get the full CBS
payout but obviously not from ESPN/SECN

I think we all are and no,I haven't seen those contacts.I imagine attorneys for the SEC and ESPN are gonna be in some heavy negotiations.

Because traveling to Florida is going to be so much safer for UK than driving 70 miles to play Louisville. Huh?

Ditto USCe and Clemson
Georgia- Georgia Tech
Florida- Florida State
