It may have been a good game back in the day, but it would be aweful today. I understand the reason ND wouldn't want to play an SEC team, much less Bama, they would get curbstomped. Seems like an easy answer to the OP to me

okay, but you asked why we would be begging to play them...

What about playing second tier SEC teams like Ole Miss or South Carolina? Do you think Notre Dame would be humiliated by those teams?

Auburn has never played Notre Dame. Don't you think it would be cool to play them at least once?

The only real reason would be for their TV contract money. We now have our own TV contract money that is huge. The only other reason would be simply a fanbase wanting to "even the score" with them. Just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me
I think Bama playing Penn St is a much better move

Its a storied rivalry, and you are naive if you dont think that even our administration would want to even the score. Like I said, pretty logical.

We've tried, but they refuse to do a home-and-home. They want neutral field games for big match-ups.

What's wrong with playing in a neutral field? If I was Saban and Mal, I would accept those conditions in a heartbeat.

Saban and mal tried to schedule em during saban's 1st year but they refused. At this point, they're trying to make their schedule as easy as possible to get easy wins. But they can't even win easy games. I'd rather wait till they can actually compete before scheduling them.

Idk, ppl probably thought the same about BAMA before saban was hired. Hire the right coach and they can turn a program around quickly.
