Sad. Without UK far ahead, the SEC is average. Just like Bama in football.

IMO, there's only one conference champion. And that's the one that wins the conference tourney.

A conference title for A&M in basketball is as rare as a conference title for Kentucky in football.

1986, but that's still 30 years ago. 1987 was the last tournament championship.

11 regular season and 2 tournament championships in our entire history (1912-2016).

That's because Kansas has a stranglehold on the Big 12. And our grip on SEC basketball is even stronger statistically, so don't plan on those titles to suddenly get any easier for you.

That would be the conference tournament champion which has its own separate trophy.

No it's not. Between 1988-2004, A&M had 1 total postseason appearance and 14 seasons of .500 or worse (9 of those seasons were 10 wins or fewer).

Our cumulative record for all those seasons was a whopping 190-299.

To put it in perspective, Billy Gillispie had 70 wins in 3 seasons, Mark Turgeon had 97 wins in 4 seasons, and Kennedy currently has 93 wins in 5 seasons.

There is nobody in this league good enough to chalk up a win in this conference

I'm aware. But that's like saying that the higher ranked team in football is the SEC champion before the postseason SEC championship game is played. Championships are decided in the postseason on the field. That's just my opinion.

So you put more weight in a somewhat meaningless conference tournament than a full 18 game regular season?

It's not even close to the same thing actually. The trophy is the same as the conference title trophy awarded in all the other sports and doesn't say "Regular Season Champs".

As meaningless as an automatic tourney bid?

So you've never tried to be optimistic despite having the odds against you or your team? Geez some of people are miserable. Will LSU win? Most likely not. In fact, it would not surprise me to see them play pitiful like they have before. I said UK has a big edge. Yet, that will not stop me from believing that the Tigers could end up playing outstanding and pull off the upset. Excuse me for being a homer and trying to be positive.

That is not an upgrade...Dale Brown was a terrible bench coach. LSU got on some good runs in the NCAAs, but it damn sure wasn't what Dale Brown was doing to make it happen.
