And just because I am here already and I ran across a guy posting these on TexAgs (He's class of '44)

Kyle Field, 1940

The last of those lower stands were removed last year.

And Bonfire, 1940

A lot of those guys went off to war a year later.

Crazy.

I know the university has other facilities planned first but I would really like to see us get a standalone football operations/locker room/weight room building eventually.. most schools in the SEC have them. I know that's not enough reason alone to get one.. but it is A reason. I know the current football offices are at WillyB and so is the weight room.. those areas can be converted into spaces for fans/alumni/big time donors.

I'm pretty sure a standalone practice facility for basketball and adding more luxury suites at WB are the next big things planned for SC.

I read somewhere that Tanner wants to eventually add another upper deck and some more luxury suites at Carolina Stadium too. Probably another 2,000 seats.

Broke ground today on the new football only practice/training center. Will be attached to current Nutter Field House (First picture below).

The new $45 million training facility will be around 100,000 square feet, and will accommodate everything football related into one building. The $45 million cost on this facility is completely separate from the $120 million renovation of Commonwealth Stadium that is already underway and set to be completed before the beginning of this coming season.

***Commonwealth Stadium renovation information and progress can be found here:

Commonwealth Stadium Renovation

Here is more info regarding the new training/practice facility from The Courier Journal:

New $45 million Kentucky Football Practice Facility

(Current Indoor Practice Field, NUTTER FIELD HOUSE. New facility will be attached and updates made to current structure.

Can any State fans tell me when this is planned? I'm actually excited to see it built. Maybe it'll pressure our AD to improve Swayze.

45 million for your practice field? sounds like your practice field will be nicer than your game field. Interesting strategy.

Actually, the 45 mil is for the indoor training center that's attached to Nutter Field House, which is the indoor practice field. There are also two new outdoor practice fields being added beside the indoor training center.

The outdoor practice fields will have natural turf and the new playing turf will be artificial. Coach Stoops wanted unlimited practice time available for both turf types.

Love the warehouse/condo idea that State is using.

Will send some money so you can excavate those damn rocks out of your end zone while we're at it.

Wow, looks great.

I was referring to SC though... but surely, this will get the ball rolling here eventually. And the fact that Clemson just announced that they're building their own football operations building..

Understood.

We're pretty excited about this project and the stadium reno. Loooooooong overdue for us to spend money toward football. The admin is finally doing things the fans have been asking for years.

Currently we have two different buildings (three if you count the stadium) for football. Nutter training facility and nutter field house. Decent walk separates the two.

The new facility is going to be located right beside the stadium, and I've heard connected possibly by some kind of tunnel. Football only facility. They'll re-purpose the Nutter training facility for other sports also, so it's a win-win for everyone.

Now if we could just get a new baseball stadium rolling. Hopefully after these projects get finished they'll start on that. Still won't be till at least 2017 though.....

I'm curious, is there a project expenditure breakdown for the stadium and facilities you've just built?

I'd like to see what different parts of it, locker room, weight room, etc costs are.

espn has this blurb:

quote:

The 36,000-square foot renovation, which includes a barbershop and flatscreen televisions in the mirrors, is part of a $32 million improvement of the Bright Complex.

The new Lohman Center lobby inside of Bright, which cost $4 million, and the R.C. Slocum Nutrition Center ($12 million), where the athletes eat, were completed last year. The other $16 million is allotted for the new locker rooms, training rooms and meeting rooms (seen below) as well as the third-floor coaches offices, which will begin renovation next February with a scheduled July 2015 completion.

obviously the indoor turf is artificial,, not many teams have outdoor astro-turf practice fields.. that would be a very large additional expense, you might need to win a few more basketball tourneys to pay for that!
