Unfortunately it looks like I waited way too long to book a hotel anywhere near campus or Tuscaloosa. This was expected. What's my next best option coming from Baton Rouge? Birmingham/Hoover have places to stay. Anywhere else?

Hoover
Best option imo.

Does it offer better hotel options or the drive is not as bad?

Hoover will probably be your best bet, but as for ease of driving on the day of the game, stay somewhere in downtown Bham, and jump on 59 south. Coming from Hoover will mean driving down on 459 to connect to 59, and the traffic is ALWAYS retardedly backed up on the interchange on game day. I FINALLY learned my lesson about this a year or two ago.

You could always try Meridian, MS. It's about an hour and half from Tuscaloosa, and gives you a head start on the trip home. Traffic coming from that direction is a lot better on game days as well.
Meridian is kinda a shithole though, so there's that.

Thanks guys.
This will be my third trip to Tuscaloosa and second for a game. Really looking forward to it.

It's normally about a 30-45 minute drive (not on game day). You'll want to leave at least 3-4 hours before kick off so you don't get caught in traffic.
Look for the ones on John Hawkins Parkway

When I was in TGBFTL, they used to put us up in the La Quinta in Meridian. Nice and quiet but a little farther away than Birmingham.

I always stay in Hoover, when I'm back home for a game.

I've heard mixed reviews about Priceline. A couple of friends say it's practically a scam.

There are a few new places that may not be known well or are booked.
Ambassador Inn
Wingate Inn
Value Inn
These are new, but maybe not the top of the line.

I used to be wary of it, but now I am hooked. I think the key is just to put in "4 star" for your hotel choice. You will be guaranteed a nice hotel (and you can probably guess one of the handful of options that even exist) so there is no risk of some crap place. I just stayed at the Intercontinental in Atlanta (very nice place) for $79 a night. Regular room rate for that night was was $159.
