Horns vs Crimson Tide

I know folks have been creating this thread daily for a couple weeks, I don’t give a frick. The media seems to think that the talent level of Bama’s roster will be able to dwarf any offensive shortcomings collectively. I think that’s much more challenging in todays college football, especially against teams with similar depth.
This just seems like a terrible early match-up for the Tide. Texas is going to suffocate the inside run with their alignments & they got a bunch of oversized DBs who live in the box. They’re selling out & making Milroe/Simpson beat them. That doesn’t seem like favorable matchup against one of the better secondaries in the country, at least not Week 2.
I don’t buy that an OC who wasn’t creative enough to stay ahead of the chains in Notre Dames loss to Marshall, will be able to do so against Texas with a similar QB room.

I actually like Texas in this game. You finally have the proper depth and a real QB again.
Toss up matchup imo. Bama's wildcat QB will be a liability though.

Sorry, but Texas is not ready for SEC road games yet, much less one at one of the Big Six stadiums against a team on a historic run. I've followed Texas and Auburn/SEC for a long time. Texas just isn't there yet. And I don't think Sark is the guy that gets us there either.

Last year was one of Saban’s worst teams since he got to Bama. And he still won in Austin. I wouldn’t bet against him this year at home.

This right here. 07 goes without saying but I think last years team was worse than 2010. I think 2010 beats 2022. 2019 comes in as the 4th worst.

Let me preach on this. You don't know what Alabama's offense will look like. Alabama knows a lot more about Texas than the other way around. That's not a good thing for the Horns.
Defensively I hope your OT's are ready to play or you give them some help because they likely will need it. The matchup that will tell a lot is your receivers vs the Bama secondary.
If you think your pass catchers are going to run wild we will see. That in my opinion is the strength of Texas offense but if you can't protect your QB so the routes develop so much for that, plus I think the Bama secondary will be better.
Back to offense. We don't know a lot but let's talk about what we do know. Suffocate the inside run you said.. Someone that knows something about OL play is Cole Cubelic. He got a close look at the line and it made him change his SEC West pick from LSU to Alabama.
He's made some cryptic statements that lead me to believe this is going to be a very good line. One thing it will be is BIG. You can align all you want but sooner or later you got to put a hat on a hat and those big boys will mash somebody.
Couple that with a bunch of solid backs and a QB faster than a lot of your oversized DB's that you have to account for and it can be bad for your defense.
Not to mention that if youre dropping people down in the box to stop the run you have to play simpler coverages and you make it easier on the QB and the receivers.

Exactly how do you know what the defensive scheme will be for this game? Chances are, even Bama doesn't know what their scheme will be as it is a week 2 game.
Also, do you really think you have similar depth to Bama?

Again, you don't know that. The thing that we do know about Alabama is we don't know a lot.
Texas has to prep for FOUR GUYS. Milroe probably starts but others will play.
