oh hell.

So in the 100+ year history of LSU's football program, the BEST player they've EVER had from LA is a guy that has currently played 2 years there and doesn't even have a division title to show for it? Hmmmm

It seems like they sided with more recent guys if it was close for them.

Not one of you has a homegrown player that will EVER come close to Reggie's greatness.

Well considering that this topic is about individuals and not team success, I don't see a problem here.

I would also add Kevin Faulk. 4 year starter, and held the record for all-purpose yards, in the SEC, when he was done.

First national recruit in a long time to stay home. He changed the instate recruiting vibe of LSU.

Realizing that Vanderbilt has a pretty bad football history picking Donovan Sheffield is ignorant as hell. He's probably the 4th or 5th best in state prospect Vanderbilt has signed in the last 5 years first of all. Secondly he barely has begun his career and had a handful of tackles as a true freshmen last season...

Vanderbilt's clear pick for this would be Nashville native and QB Bill Wade. He was SEC MVP, 2nd team All American & the no.1 pick in the 1952 NFL draft.

I'd say for LSU it should be Kevin Faulk.

He chose LSU when most of the top players were going everywhere BUT LSU. Signing him was the start of LSU's turnaround.

LF may be a better player, but Faulk was the more important recruit.

Hard to argue with a Heisman and just about every single season QB record.

And I absolutely get that.

I'm not an LSU historian so I don't know the history of the program. It just seems a bit "off" that in your entire illustrious history that the best player you've EVER had from LA is a guy that hasn't even finished his career yet.

Missouri

Best: Kellen Winslow, St. Louis, MO

Ole Miss

Best: Archie Manning, Drew

South Carolina

It is but I think Coryatt and Murray were more heralded and meant more to the program at the time.

I think Murray is the best QB aTm has ever had, put his skill set into that offense it is ridiculous what he does.

This is the answer. One could argue he's the most important recruit in LSU history.

Depends on what the definition of homegrown heroes you are using. I think Cannon was actually born in Mississippi, not sure when he moved, could have been at 2 months or as a 16yo. No idea and not going to bother looking it up.
