From someone who lives in Columbia, it was a complete farce. The media reporting was complete garbage. CS1950 is a racist organization with no basis in reality. Half of their demands violate discrimination laws at the state and federal level.
The campus as a whole is extremely accepting and inclusive. Those who perceive racism fail to realize the facts of life. Like the fact that Missouri as a whole is under 12% black. The same campus that elected a gay, black man as the student body president, and offered extreme support for Michael Sam.
Now, that isn't saying that individual acts of racism don't occur. They do, as they do anywhere. But there is absolutely no institutional racism. The only policies regarding race aid minorities and black students.
Multiple separate issues got roped into the bullshite protest.
It was ridiculous, and I urge everyone to listen to the actual facts.

My take I'm sure there are some racist idiots around campus, and there are some equivalent idiots responding to it. And the biggest idiots are probably in Jeff City at the state capitol. Should be an interesting watch, but I'm sure it will be biased.

I read a true story that the protests were originally about the canceling of health insurance for Grad Assistants and didn't get any traction so they went the race route.

See that's what I'm talking about. We paint pictures with a broad brush but what are the underpinnings that got the wheel turning. It's interesting. People are like kids, they discover something that helps them get their way and they will continuously use it, right or wrong. Then when something major and serious happens then they're perceived as crying wolf. What happened to picking and choosing your battles? When everything on earth starts becoming a battle then seriously why would anyone listen?

He's on campus right now filming with a cellphone. How poor are this guys productions? He's following about 10 black girls, 2 black guys, 5 white kids march around campus and chant that they won't work with the administration any longer and the oppression must stop. They want all black students to be able to have their lowest semester expunged because of racial hardships and then reimbursed for that tuition. They have been standing in the student center yelling with a megaphone for several minutes. @Davidmorrison a Mizzou reporter has several videos linked. Can't make this stuff up.
