You might be right on the "co-HC" thing not playing a factor but I want to read the article that contained the quote from NYC. I could probably find it in the thread last year when the whole Georgia thing came up.

It's smart to have them because it usually takes a candidate or possibility off the board for another SEC team looking for a coach. Only way to get one of our guys is through promotion and not the same title so it helps the assistants continue up the ladder. Like I said earlier if any coach is truly interested in pursuing another job they can always talk with Bret about it.
