I remember when Nutt was fired from Arkansas, there was talk of his golden parachute.
What was the golden parachute? Does that mean his buyout was not reduced by a salary from another head coaching job? That he received his full buyout regardless if was being paid by another school?

He took another JOB. He was told to take another job. He was never terminated. Basically, "oh hey we love you on the Board of Trustees but the state hates you and you need to find another job quickly, but here's your golden parachute just bc we are all dickriders".
They STILL paid him like 6 million dollars.
I seriously don't know how someone didn't go to jail/lose their job (Chancellor White did shortly after but its debatable why).

Basically he was buddies with powers that be (at the time) but there was so much pressure for him to be fired that they couldn't keep him around. They told him he had to go but Nutt was able to make an arrangement where he wasn't officially fired but still got his buyout

It was sickening. He was in so tight with the important good ole boys at the time.
On a positive note, it ended up leading to Broyles getting put out to pasture, which was 10 years overdue.

He got $3 million from Arkansas to go away and like $2M from Ole Miss. Than OM fired him and gave him another bag of Jack. Ole Hooten did come out smelling
like a rose.

The worst part about it is that we knew we were getting hosed on the deal but there wasn't much the fans could do but grit their teeth. Listening to University leaders getting tearful about having to let him go and making sure they "did right by him" when he was getting paid millions to go coach for a rival school probably caused a few strokes across the state.

It lead to Ole Miss going in the shitter so it was worth it imo
Plus I'm pretty sure Nutt's last 2 seasons are why they started cheating (which will lead to sanctions) so it's the gift that keeps on giving.
