maybe they can have a crowd like that for football one day. It's doubtful though, because even their students are UA/AU sidewalk fans first, j
So are Troy and USA students but they still have good atmospheres. You really don't think more UAB students would go to football games if they only had to walk a few blocks through campus as opposed to driving across Birmingham into the ghetto?

Don't they still have buses that go from campus to LF? I rode it a few times and it wasn't bad.

College students don't want to get bused to football games.

I do always find it funny when Auburn fans jump on the UAB cause. How about giving AUM a NCAA athletic program instead of a NAIA program?

I know a lot of people that lived in my apartment complex that would have ridden a bus from there to campus for football games.

UAB has a football team?

AUM has maybe 5000 students vs UAB with nearly 20,000 students

Jacksonville State only has about 9,000 students and they have an FCS football team.
Presbyterian has 1200 students and they are Div 1 in both football and basketball.

Are you really a surly old man? Every post, you seem like a miserable old man with nothing positive to say.

I only sparingly watch HS football to see what kind of recruits we landed. Other than that, I don't care. I went to HS in DFW but we are a perennial 5-5 or 6-4 team and usually never advance too far in the playoffs.

New Orleans, not the Superdome, has hosted 10 Superbowls. The first 3 were played on Willow Street in Tulane Stadium. The largest crowds ever for the Superbowl in New Orleans and the Sugar Bowl were in Tulane Stadium. It could be quite dark, but I don't remember the lights going out there.

When UAB can only draw less than 3,000 for a confrence home game, then where is the need for an on campus stadium?
Bottom line,UAB football is a money pit. They depend on the UA system to survive.

I watched the Texas high school football games rather than the bowl games that were on.

I genuinely do not give a rats' arse about HS football outcomes. I only care about the prospective recruits.

Kentucky's high school football is divided into 6 classes. Championships are played in Bowling Green. This year's 6 games were played Dec. 6,7 and 8. Total attendance was just under 50,000 for the 6 games. By comparison, the boys' sweet sixteen in Lexington fills 23,500 seat Rupp Arena for each session of the basketball championship.

Do you really not understand the difference between where Legion Field is located and University Blvd?

I respect that it's huge in Texas, but when it boils down to it, it's high school freakin football. It really doesn't matter much. It's played by kids who still have cracking voices and aren't even legal adults.
